If you get the heal they're pretty good, especially with the weird aggro in multiplayer. Also I literally beat the game without killing a single enemy personally after I got wolves (and later the core dweller) online so its not like summons are ridiculously bad or anything. You just struggle in some fights (like Act 2's end boss )

There's also the bit where some of the bonus bosses make being a summoner at terrible idea, because they take control of them and turn them against you.

I gotta keep an eye on this one. I've had Titan Quest in my steam library for ages but never played very far into it. Don't think I've ever got to the spartan camp. Time to boot it up again and play along. As it was suggested as cool build, i'm gonna run with the Haruspex, grab a spear and go full Hoplite. Also, like Agent, i have a soft spot for pet classes in games like this, born from my Diablo 2 days, but I find that more and more games have pets that time out these days, rather than sticking around untill they die.

I'm working absurd hours this week so y'all get a morning update! So this one is a bit longer than the previous ones but it didn't really feel like we had a great stopping point anywhere in there. They'll tend to vary based on how well we can remember the pacing of this game. I was gonna write up some big thing on charms on relics but then I realized it really didn't matter all that much, so I'll just do a quick run down. With a few exceptions they all fall in to weapon, shield, armor, or accesory categories. They usually provide similar benefits to what that item might produce if you got a lucky drop, but are a bit more specefic. We'll hopefully see more of them as time goes on because they're cool and helpful but I'm going to blame Agent for messing up the drops for now.

Oh man! Satyr Click! And recorded with good commentary with good video quality! Also, I like the long episodes, it's been mentioned before that games like this are perfectly good at being second-monitor LPs and I agree. Maybe that's just because I know the game really well, but whatever, it's great so far.

I hadn't really thought about co-op ARPG etiquette before. I play multiplayer games extremely rarely, but Titan Quest is a game I've played all the way through in co-op at least a couple of times. I remember at a previous job there was a bunch of us playing through it during our lunch breaks for a while. I would use movement speed increasing items, XP-gain increasing items, level up whenever I felt like it, portal back to town whenever my inventory happened to fill up, etc. Man, I was being a real jerk and I didn't even realise it.

The best thing about this game, is of course, the extreme rag-dolling. Which I think may have to be turned on in this version of the game. Basically the way they calculated rag-dolling was direction of hit and how much damage the hit did, with increased effects for concussive weapon/spells vs. other types, from what I remember. In effect this means hitting a satyr with enough damage and a mace would make them fly halfway across the map on a lucky swing.

If you're playing with pubbies, whatever, no one there's expecting much of anyone. With friends though, yeah, it's nice to make sure one guy isn't storming ahead of everyone else. Obviously, it's different if one guy has a build that's slow to gain power and has to be carried for a while or if they've got a specialised build that has trouble with certain areas (Duriel with ice sorcs in Diablo 2 springs to mind) but it's more fun when everyone's at an equal level. No one wants to think they're not pulling their own weight.

So I kinda listened to the thread! I was thinking about it a bit more and as cool as the poison debuff is for me our current ALL PET ALL TIMES build is a bit more condusive to using an active energy skill with some range on it. The puppies would be very sad if I wasn't helping them out.

I remember Titan Quest. I bought the original and expansion back in the day and it still works! The lore and sheer variety of mobs and loot was awesome but I remember hating how the controls would not be able to react fast enough (i would get stuck in an attack while being mobbed and then I'd try to spam a healing potion, only to be killed a second later because the system wouldn't register the potion button fast enough). The rag-dolls were awesome! I would recommend ranged attacks over melee and if I played it again, I'd try focusing more on speed (movement and attack) and regen.

I'd say grab Premonition and Distortion Field to give you more tankiness. Grab Dream Stealer because "Devastate your enemies and steal their power by ripping the very dreams from their minds." sounds as all gently caress. Phantom Strike seems p Rogue-y but I dunno it doesn't wow me. And I guess try and get Distort Reality and Temporal rift since those seem like a PBAoE version of your Distortion Wave which is prob more helpful. and yeah up that mantra cause holy poo poo that's silly good ...I'm really way more into the Dream tree than the Rogue tree so I see what Agent meant. Oh and you might wanna spec into nightmare because "Master Mind: (Rank: 1 of 8): The Nightmare is able to speak to the minds of your other minions and coordinate their attacks, making them more effective in combat. 50 Energy Cost, 15.0 Meter Radius,Bonus to All Pets:,+5% Total Damage, +30% Health Regeneration, +30% Energy Regeneration" loving super dogges EDIT: wait is Lucid Dream a loving passive??? EDIT 2: guiz i think i rely liek dreem Psionic Touch + Psionic Burn seem way better than Calculated Strike + Lucky Hit. LH seems way too random to be useful, and requires you to like spread yourself really thin across the rogue tree. Psionic Burn seems to fit the sort of PBAoE + Hard Spike single target + Beast Mastery playstyle you're going for. Basically throw traps, summon nightmares, use PS to get into a mob, use DR to blast and stun, clickclickclick... If you see a boss, Phantom Strike to them then Lethal Strike before clickclickclick Seraphic Neoman fucked around with this message at 22:31 on Feb 23, 2017 |

http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Soothsayer&master1=2&master2=4 Thats roughly where I am right now. The goal is to pump up spirit mastery and reach some of the other auras/pets before going back and adding more points to some of the really cool/useful stuff I've been collecting.

See I think those Mastery Calculators might be out of date, because they don't seem to reflect some of the changes made by the Anniversary Edition. Not that this doesn't mean they're bad for getting a general idea of the tree and what you're going to get out of it. Also they tried to fix the weak pets in Act 3 thing, but whether it works or not for you will have to be seen, as it's just a 75% health increase attached to one of the quest completions.

SSNeoman posted:I'd say grab Premonition and Distortion Field to give you more tankiness. Yeah I'll probably respec a bit after I get a few more levels going. Calculated Strike and Lethal Strike are better than the equivalents with only a few skill points in them, but it ramps up so quick if you go all-in on Dream skills. I'll probably switch my shotgun over to the knives at some point because I like them way better. Finally get to meet the Oracle and discover our fate. This is also our first opportunity to fix our skill selection mistakes and pick better stuff. Agent has already done some tweaking on his, but I might go back and rework a few of the skills I have taken so far. I think when I get a few more levels I'm also going to switch which active Dream buff I use, since I can only have one active at a time (class restriction).
|
# ? Feb 24, 2017 19:56 |

Are there any restrictions on respecing? Would it really have mattered if the bridge wasn't broken since you still have to go around it for the main quest anyway?
|
# ? Feb 24, 2017 22:23 |
|
It costs ever more and more gold to respec point by point and you can never remove points spent on masteries. It's cheap enough that you can fix builds on the fly but not so cheap that you can flat out rebuild a character from the ground floor for no cost.
|
# ? Feb 24, 2017 22:30 |
|
The respec cost doubles for each point, doesn't it? I remember the cost becoming crippling pretty quickly; you don't want to be in a position where you feel like you need to do a major respec.
