The Nastier Nate posted:In all seriousness, American's have been spoiled rotten for the past 30 years buying things like pineapples for $2.99 and $.70 a pound for bananas. the problem with kicking out immigrant labor isn't the cost increase, we can handle that the problem is that entire harvests will just rot on the vine, and this will cause a huge spike in food prices and a huge reduction in food availability (for all types of food, even lovely corn and sugar garbage that compose 90% of dipshit trumpist diets) when historians say the majority of famines are caused by logistical and political forces, this is what they mean

Idk like a poo poo getting thrown around here but it's pretty much an objective truth that: #1. Trump isn't popular by any stretch of the imagination #2. The GOP absolutely does not know how to govern at any level. Mike Pence is just as dumb as Trump; he's just less mentally ill #3. Trump while very unpopular is far more popular than the GOP, which is staring down the barrel of a gun ala the dems circa 2009

Every time a reporter asks Spicer a question, there's this brief, jarring moment where he has a flashback of his young self tossing a newspaper against his bedroom wall and bolded "Sean Sphincter" dances before his eyes. "No one laughs at Sean Spicer. They'll learn, I'll make them learn."

The Nastier Nate posted:In all seriousness, American's have been spoiled rotten for the past 30 years buying things like pineapples for $2.99 and $.70 a pound for bananas. American fortune has always been built on slaves or low-wage workers. If we start paying farm workers a minimum wage, the way around it will be a new law that allows state to export their prisoners to California so big ag will have a steady supply of workers. Then, to keep the supply steady, we'll need harsher sentences to create more criminals! Maybe even some new crimes!

What happened in 2007? it's an obvious lie because he changes his story on how cozy he is with Putin literally weekly. they're either best friends who Skype daily or he's never heard of the guy and doesn't even know where Russia is depending on how mad the news is getting about it

If they actually did get serious about cracking down on undocumented farmworkers, they probably also up the availability of temporary guest workers on seasonal visas. The outcome is basically the same except it's more expensive and less efficient, and the workers probably have even fewer guarantees of safety.
