Idk like a poo poo getting thrown around here but it's pretty much an objective truth that: #1. Trump isn't popular by any stretch of the imagination #2. The GOP absolutely does not know how to govern at any level. Mike Pence is just as dumb as Trump; he's just less mentally ill #3. Trump while very unpopular is far more popular than the GOP, which is staring down the barrel of a gun ala the dems circa 2009

If they actually did get serious about cracking down on undocumented farmworkers, they probably also up the availability of temporary guest workers on seasonal visas. The outcome is basically the same except it's more expensive and less efficient, and the workers probably have even fewer guarantees of safety.
