p. sure its bad but i use it because i remember the buttons, it doesn't have a mess of an interface like vlc, but much like vlc it just happily plays whatever it gets

delete VLC and then reinstall VLC because it's still the best good+simple player

also I just noticed VLC has a kind of janky but working chromecast option now :toot:

i dont know any of the buttons and scrolling is bound to scrubbing but its the default for my illegal hockey streaming app so whenever i brush my trackpad it fucks up the streaming and i have to restart it

mpv is more than a fork at this point though, it actually has a lib you can interface with instead of emulating keyboard input to make a frontend

smplayer is a good frontend for mpv

op i use sdi with bnc heads for all my cabling in my work, OP. i hope you approve. cept the camera capture audio (audio gets passed from the deaf ppl mix) so it comes in another cable. i wish i was clever enough or had a cool box that could suck it all in and composite it or whatever and stream it out but i dont so i just ran 2 cables, due to idiocy. suits my humble theatrical monitor needs, though, i guess.

Slingbox never made a digital unit-- the M1/M2 were component only, and if you asked on their forums they linked you to a sketchy looking site that is 'unaffiliated' but had a mailing address that was remarkably close to sling inc who sold an HDMI to component+unencrypted HDMI box for $20.
