My local community college has a welding class, but they've got a bunch of prerequisite courses for it like Metallurgy 111 and poo poo. I totally get where they're coming from with that and I'm sure there's a ton of awesome info there, but I just want to learn how to weld, you know?

IOwnCalculus posted:So, this Macchina looks pretty loving cool. Wonder if it could be used to replace / handle maintenance functions that you'd normally need an OEM tool (i.e. Chrysler DRB3) to do. Oh, wow, thank you. Looks like it could do that - just needs the reverse engineering, and tools built (not a trivial task, but much easier with an interface like this.) I will definitely support that. So, in job news, despite nothing being concrete yet, I have gotten several recruitment attempts for my own job.

Workshop 88 is out in Glen Ellyn (about 50 miles from you), and Milwaukee Makerspace is up in Milwaukee (about 50 miles from you). Pumping Station One is on the north side of Chicago, about 40 miles from you, but they've gotten too big and their culture's kinda suffered if you ask me. e. I guess what I'm saying is, just rent yourself a little crashpad in Bridgeport. Safety Dance fucked around with this message at 20:52 on Mar 6, 2017 |

PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) have agreed to purchase Opel/Vauxhall from GM for 2.2billion Euros: http://www.topgear.com/car-news/psa-confirms-eu22bn-deal-buy-opelvauxhall I guess this screws Holden in Australia, as they are depending on the new Opel Insignia to replace the Aussie built Commodore when production shuts down in October. PSA also purchased Chrysler's Euro division in the late 70s.

the spyder posted:Who wants to convince me buying a rental property is a bad idea and instead, I should buy 10 acres in the middle of BFE. I vote for BFE. Just do your research and try to keep your property taxes down. Also make sure you know if there is any continuing land management you'll have to keep up with, or else you're just paying taxes on extra land that's only a headache. We bought 9 acres 3 years ago and it has been a massive undertaking. I'm proud of what we've built, but sometimes also miss my former small house on 1 acre (that could/would be paid off by now).
