Mushishi Zoku Shou is an extremely good show. The soundtrack is loving stunning, too. I am absolutely powerless against the way it combines strings and pianos and chimes together.

Nier is amazing so far, even though I'm somehow lost on the way to the first boss. You know, the one from the demo. That i played through a couple times.

Perhaps I'm more tired than I realized, thank god for suspend mode.

It seems like they made the demo portion a bit harder, or I'm just ridiculously out of practice. Most likely the latter.

Also you can buy a fishing spot locator at the first shop. I am glad that 2B likes to fish.

Macross put me off after some buddies and I simulwatched the original, SDF Macross. The idol poo poo in that goes to such an extreme degree, there's romantic misunderstandings in the love triangle, no progress is made for a long rear end time (as far as the relationship drama goes), they put all the mecha stuff in the backburner, and gently caress Minmay she's real bad??? It was pretty funny when the aliens freaked the gently caress out when they saw a kiss, it's not like we missed "the point". In the end though, the whole thing was 90% bleh, with the remaining 10% being either cool action or unintentional comedy... or Max.

I heard the other Macross series put even MORE loving emphasis on the singing though :suicide:

maybe you should watch gundam instead. sounds like you went into macross expecting a war show and that's not what it is about at all. its about ordinary people trying to live their lives in the face of hardship, and in macross world that takes the form of space cities, chinese restaurants, and love songs

The antihero versus divinity angle is pretty time-tested. Its easier to accept a protag when their flaws set them up for trial, and their character traits are the reason they stand out and beat the odds, which is what happens to Tanya

Tho heck despite what you say, one aspect of the original Macross I've always appreciated has been the focus on military life. Pretty rare for it to get that degree of attention in mecha, especially in that era.

I feel mixed about that Macross announcement insomuch as they gave the cast a decent enough ending, but if it's just Sheryl returning as part of the supporting cast in the next Macross just like how Macross 7 had some returning characters that didn't steal the spotlight from the new cast then I'd be fine with it.

But heck for all I know maybe it just means she's returning in a mobile game.

I have to go to class in three hours yet I do not regret staying up all night playing Nier, it's been too long since I've done something like this. Game is good and weird and charmingly clunky in all the right places.
