How many Championships?
Good value here for the Bucs. Only 25 and one of the better run stopping DEs.

Is there any fire to the smoke about NOLA wide receiver infighting and asking for trades?

Cooks was openly complaining last year about not getting enough touches and New Orleans showed with Stills that they're more than willing to trade a talented wide receiver for off the field reasons, so I'd say it's probably true. As long as they get first round value for him I don't mind it. Finding wide receivers for Brees has been one thing the Saints haven't struggled with.

Is that realistic, getting a first for Cooks in trade? How many years are left on his rookie deal/what's his production been like?

I know he's flashed pretty brightly, watching the ATL/NOLA games over the years, but those games are always weirdly high in scoring and production.

2 years left on his deal (fifth year option), he's young (23), and speedy.

Hell yes we should get a first.

It wasn't that long ago that WR was a large need when Colston was on his way out, Jimmy was traded, and all we had was Cooks and Lance Moore. I'm glad Michael Thomas and Willie Snead worked out, but I still think they need to keep Cooks unless they get a hell of a deal.

That's why I'm asking about the fire re:smoke.

Rumors are the wide receivers are feuding with Cooks right now and kinda want him gone. Maybe that's all smoke to lower his trade value?

Bad, very bad!
Not realistic to get a high first, but back to back 1100+ yard seasons is pretty nice and if someone super believes in him a mid to low first seems reasonable? I mean if it were my team I'd be worried about the difference between Drew Brees and the way the Saints run the offense compared to how we do things, but if you think he's your guy I could see that being worth it.

Unless there's some reason it goes away with a trade that I don't know about there is a 5th year option on him, so you get him for 2 years on the rookie deal before you have to pay him.

e: Oops I got up to do something halfway through writing this.

Cooks started it last year when he complained about not getting enough touches, and the thought at the time was "Closed mouths don't get fed." Depending on who you believe, he wants out / it's all a smokescreen / Payton wants him gone / he's staying for two more years.

I mean, it's draft time, and crazy crap can happen (JIMMY WAS TRADED?????). But then again, sometimes it just doesn't. How many years has Sean Payton left the Saints or Drew Brees been traded away? But every year, there's always a rumor....

As far as feuding, the idea is that Cooks supposedly "knows" that Michael Thomas is the Saints star WR of the future and not him, thus the jealousy.

Now that John Ross is probably off the board by the time the Bucs pick comes around, I wouldn't mind trading that #19 pick for Cooks. But I doubt the Saints will deal him in division.
