Bip Roberts posted:I was going to say that was pretty drat cheap for Koreatown but that address is pretty borderline Pico-Union. it wasnt far from there but i was within 2 minutes walking distance of 3 korean poolhalls i totally wouldnt have been welcome to so it was koreatwon my best buddy growing up back in chicago was korean. he would tell me funny stories about his church. like they had a banner out front in korean saying 'TODAY CHICAGO: TOMORROW THE WORLD" like they were the legion of evil hq and they would also call his family every time they didnt show up to mass until his dad got sick of it and told them to gently caress off. ithink they just stoppped going to any church at hat point ie nded up living really close to a kroean church and they would wake me up every sunday morning with their hymns. and my korean buddy stopped by and i didnt want to tell him anything about the joke other than "yeah theyre gonna wake us up no matter how hung oer we are on sunday." so i waited until he herd it himself and they woke us up and they were singing ahymn that was basically "camptown races" in korean with the refrain being HALL-AY-YOU-YAH and he loosks at me and he says "this was the worst part about being korean in a white town and going to korean church. i knew we were singging white people kindergarten songs and we sounded ridiculous and when i was 5 i would tell them that and they wouldnt listen. its jus so loving embarrassing."
