Remember when VJax signed that contract and the total numbers were $55,555,555 over however many years and he said he wanted it to be all 5's because his QB was #5?

And that QB was Josh Freeman?

I'm gonna miss Mike Glennon cause he was a goofy looking dude who is considerably less likely to be a rapist than our current QB.

He had a fifth year option. I'd rather him stay on the team if this was all we were going to get.

Funny how your mood about your team can change so quickly. Yesterday, I was pretty drat happy about all their moves. Today, I'm disgusted with the front office. I just think a young speedy dependable receiver should be worth more than this, and the Saints screwed themselves.

Trying to trade a more replaceable commodity (receivers that produce in New Orleans) for a less replaceable one (defensive players that produce in New Orleans).

Trading Ealy suddenly makes sense, because it made the Patriots' R3-103 selection expendable to get Cooks out of the conference, let alone the division.

They traded for a draft pick.

So there is no way to know if they are gonna get that.

Especially since it is the end round pick.

The draft pick has a better shot at being a good defensive player than Brandon Cooks.

Well, their previous history with finding wide receivers is about as good as their history of whiffing on defensive players is bad, so I guess it's a wash?

There's a clear judgment call in there, which is whether or not Cooks was going to be dependable again or be a pain in the rear end. After how bad the Saints got burned with locker room problems and bad blood I'm on board for shipping dudes out if they don't want to be in NOLA.

I'mma just drop in this quote from the SI story about the Jairus Byrd signing.

quote:

Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan now has the luxury of pairing the talented Byrd with 2013 rookie Kenny Vaccaro at the safety positions for a duo that ultimately may be able to rival that of Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas in Seattle.
