I used to like Roiland despite his flaws but following someone who makes child porn of 11 year old youtubers is hosed up beyond belief. It's really hosed up how big that whole Sleepycabin crew is, I listened to an episode once where they were all supporting Shadman and sympathising with him when he was talking about getting kicked out of school for drawing a bunch of child porn.

You can't really fully separate the two into a perfect little box, but you aren't a monster or a pervert just because you respect work accomplished by monsters or perverts. One of the landmark moments in my cartoon watching career is a line from a great old show The Oblongs where the son, Milo is bitching to his dad about having to walk home through the psychiatric hospitals yard. His dad, played by Will Ferrell, responds "Oh son, don't call them crazy. I like to think of them as... Pathologically Inspired." My answer would be someone like maybe Sting or Bob Dylan, long fleshed out careers and no scandals that i'm super aware of, touched a lot of people's lives in a healthy way... I just think you're being naive or coy if you're unwilling to admit that a lot of talented people are hosed up, because for a lot of us, it's the trauma that affects us that pushes us to create, and it's disingenuous to disregard that.

I'm far-left socialist and follow far-left socialist people and publications, most notably Current Affairs. They follow such fantastic people as Joy Reid (centrist pundit who basically vilifies nonexistent BernieBros and bashes millenials nonstop for why HRC lost despite, you know, reality proving otherwise), Kurt Eichenwald (guy who decided defending Milo Yiannopoulos, Guy Who Thinks Child Rape Is Cool and transphobic Nazi-lover, was a good idea, also centrist idiot pundit) and Richard Spencer (literal Nazi). The people I follow aren't "hidden Nazis", they follow thes ereally repellant individuals so they're aware of the stupid poo poo they spew. Following someone is not, inherently, an embracement of their politics, policies, and opinions. Retweeting and tweeting in their defense is. I also follow Justin Roiland on twitter. I literally had no idea he followed child porn guy until it was brought up in this thread, considering he's never retweeted or talked about this dude on twitter literally ever. For all we know he got recommended to follow this dude because a friend told him to, or they run in the same circles, or it was out of politeness and he's muted all of this child porn guys' tweets simply because, again, they run in the same friendship circles.
