Even pyro felt fairly integral in highlander games (though this was the mode that forced you to have one). It was usually a babysitter type of role for highlander, but if your pyro was a weak link you certainly felt it.

If anything it's an example of the problems with designing one character largely as an explicit counter to another.

Pitchfork was wrong. (f)lowers of Algerbong is crap.
All other things aside, the thing I have always preferred about Overwatch in relation to TF2 is that the game was designed from the ground up to be balanced around the mobility the majority of the characters in the game have access too.

Rocket jumping is cool poo poo and I spent hours upon hours practicing wall jumping as Soldier on those training servers, but that kind of access to obscene mobility that was only available to 2 of the 9 classes was a loving terrible decision. It basically made Soldier/Demoman/Scout the only correct choices in the game if you had even the mildest inclination towards getting better.

poo poo, look at TFC and conc-grenades. Now that was a warped meta in combination with the jump-strafe/Bunnyhopping exploit.

Fortress Forever tried to fix the issues to make an interesting TFC:Source style game, but it still devolved to the same classes and chokepoint style gameplay.

It didn't help that Fortress Forever was effectively smothered in its crib when Valve released the TF2 demo 2 weeks later. I absolutely love TFC to death, but the biggest problem and one they never addressed in Fortress Forever was the Medic just being 100% the best pick every time for offense. Defense had a bit more diversity and I genuinely enjoyed the choke point style gameplay, but for that style of gameplay to not be infuriating as offense you had to have a firm grasp of all the movement abilities, from the basics like conc jumping to advanced stuff like ramp sliding and bunnyhopping

Coincidentally TF2 didn't do poo poo to help the Pyro or Spy be actually useful in a competitive setting either :v:.

That loving Axtinguisher change actually killed any enjoyment I had for playing them.

The Axtinguisher nerf was only a matter of time, since an Axtinguisher hit on a burning enemy effectively one-shotted 8 of the 9 classes. The only surprise about it is that it took so long.

I did one for like 6 months that was mostly hair and shaving product samples but sometimes they'd throw in iphone charging cables, socks, and other stuff that I've actually gotten a lot of use out of. I never used the shaving stuff cus I have a beard but I did use a lot of the hair products. But it was also $30 a month and it wasn't worth it to continue. I can't imagine spending $26 a month on toys that are either going to clutter up my space or go in the trash.

Of course, I say this as I continue to buy golf clubs that I don't need so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Anyone's projectiles can be messed with. Putting the projectile speed at max actually makes it really hard to aim his gun cause the grenades shoot upwards so if you want to shoot more ahead of you you need to aim toward the floor

This is a good example of how lame Loot Crate can get, with the awful rear end box that Ashen got.

Three options:

Play a general dps like soldier or Pharah and make big plays

Play Roadhog or Hanzo and reliably get picks on high priority targets

Play Reinhardt and learn when to push in and make big plays with your ult on offenses d how to control the flow of battle on defense

Those are the best three ways to "carry" in Overwatch.

It depends whats keeping you in that range. There are -so- many variables to explore and juggle.

If you are actually decent aiming and mechanics, then focus on positionining(probably the most rank-segregating aspect beyond basics), team wrangling through communication and ult coordination, and morale management. Don't ever walk forward alone, actually use your team mates, always be positive, keep up morale, give yourself a nice ten minute warm-up in a non-competitive mode to get your focus set and hands warm. Tab often to keep track of both enemy composition, and ally ults. Play characters you enjoy, but pick ones that work with your team lineup in any individual game. At least buddy up with someone on the team to play off their strengths. For example, if someone is playing a good Soldier, pick Ana and stick with them, use their biotic field and nanovisor.

But most importantly, accept that you will inevitably lose, but don't become a loser. The second you find yourself getting frustrated, wanting to rage, or depressed, you've let your ego invest itself in the outcome of games superficially and it will sour your fun and experience, sabotaging your future games. Stop, take a breather, let it go to find the fun and humor in the game or you'll become just another toxikid.

You get the Cute But Deadly Tracer figurine in in March, and the Cute But Deadly Pharah figurine in April from what it looks like. Both alone go for $20 on Amazon. I guess that's in addition to the Sporty Tracer Funko? That one is pretty rare. I might spring on both boxes just for the Cute But Deadly figures.

Action HL is my all time fav mod, but I also dig The Specialists a lot. They go for different things, even though they're stylistically similar. I'd like to see more new games in that John Woo/action movie style of flavor.

Speaking of underrated mods, Team Fortress Classic was awesome. TF2 was also awesome, but never really hear about TFC these days. (except on the last page of this fine topic)

Don't do this. If you feel like you're being forced to be a healer because not a single player on your team is willing to even consider it, don't - just play a class you like and try to have some fun with the inevitable loss. Either someone else will switch after a couple of minutes, or everyone else on your team will trickle into fights one at a time for the entire game with absolutely no sense of teamwork whatsoever. Either way, at least you get to play a class you're good at and maybe even have a little fun, instead of spending the entire round as a nigh-defenseless single healer trying helplessly to herd your idiot teammates.
