Well the ESPN stat tracker said there would be a 66% chance of a breakfast-induced sleep coma during the middle section of the race. They have very smart people there. That second yellow hosed over my team picks (Power, Hinch, Dixie, Aleshin), and Power getting DQ'd just poured salt in the wound. I'm still surprised the fantasy league people didn't reset the costs for 2017, I mean I guess it makes sense because the drivers that finished the season high in the standings are going to be good choices, but it's a new season and things can change. Like Penske crapping the bed. On the plus side, Sato actually had a very good race. And now.. a nearly one month wait for the next race. I really wish it was like 2 weeks to Barber, then 2 weeks to Long Beach, feels like a better use of the calendar.

Yeah the month wait is a killer although F1 starts in two weeks for the open wheel fix. looking forward to the Indy car season it might be pretty open would love a tight championship battle.

"pit as soon as your window is open" has been the winning strategy at indycar races since the dawn of time.

I'm game, I honestly think Sebring, Le Mans, and Daytona 24 Hours should always be de facto 'bye weeks" for VICS. Along with F1..IMSA will likely help me get through the next couple of Indy-less weeks. I just wish there was less of those weeks....

I'm totally watching Sebring 12h, it's just a bummer than Indycar has this massive gap between races.

But I imagine Cup having a date next week prevents that. Hindsight? They really should have moved the Houston GP to around that time, but I don't know if that course was exactly up to snuff in regards to Safety standards.

A good schedule leading into May 2017 could have been this: March 12th: St Pete March 26th: Barber April 9th: Long Beach April 23rd: Phoenix Four races every other week. Plenty of time to keep the hype train rolling, plus get the equipment trucked across the US and then to Indiana for ~The Month of May~. A racing goon can dream.

Every day you move closer to that date, you are cannibalizing a portion of your own attendance. Barber has had the same relative date for years. You dont want to mess with that. Same with St Pete and Long Beach. I mean a great date to fill that gap would be someplace warm in March/April, with a limited autoracing presence. Like, say, New Orleans... ah poo poo.

Yeah and because Long Beach has IMSA as well there's really not much you can do to change its date.

Same with St Pete and Long Beach. Houston or the venue that shall remain nameless (in Austin) in this thread would be a good fit for the hypothetical March 26th date. Could also go international...hit up Brazil or Australia if some guy down there is willing to throw money at you. (doubtful. But Melbourne has issued the "gently caress F1, We'll bring in IndyCar" threat before for example). Homestead? Only fear would be over saturating Florida that month/February. I mean Sebring, Daytona and St. Pete are all right next to each other in terms of dates.

I mean you kinda have the "big ones" nailed down save for Laguna Seca, -venue that makes this thread go insane-, Portland and Road Atlanta. (I question that one's ability to host formula racing). Laguna Seca would be tricky considering the Nimby's, but maybe you work out a deal with IMSA to share a weekend? I don't know. Portland keeps popping up as well, so I think they'll be back sooner rather than later. Could go to CGV or Mont Tremblant in Canada. But yeah.
