The Blackwater of Jihad A consortium of elite, well-paid fighters from across the former Soviet Union are training jihadis in Syria. Their business model could go global.

They're apparently pretty amateur but they were in the army for a year or two so they can teach stuff. Also with what I was talking about with the Kurds yesterday was partly true. A source I trust a lot more said YPG did displace other Kurds but it was to make a more defensible position, and not nefarious reasons. But they are colliding with Assad so that's still bad

One of the mercs blew their vague idea of stealth by spraying his MP5 in the air to get civilian cars to back off, and they ended up bailing out and firing in random directions when they got ambushed because Yeager forgot to put the car in gear and thought it had broken down.

I'm no expert, but axle grease seems to be a wildly inappropriate viscosity, and have the potential to end up a muddy sludge if my previous experiences with axle grease are anything to go by. Is there anything else that is a glaring problem with that?

i think white lithium grease is used by some gun guys but i dunno. i just stick with poo poo thats purpose made for gun cleaning and lube, even if that means im an idiot spending 5 bucks more a year for my cleaning supplies i actually havent cleaned my guns in years because i live in a dry climate and havent been shooting for a long loving time

Until, you know, he hosed up and got people killed. That's exactly what it was. He was a cop for 12 years and spent some time as a SWAT officer in a unit that did little or nothing of importance, and he admits in his report that he had the least time in the Middle East of all the people in the group that got ambushed. There's also the hilarious finale where they drag the dead guy's body out of the car and it starts rolling forward as soon as the dead foot is off the brake, causing it to nearly run over another guy.

Long story short, one of the guys in their "low profile motorcade" started shooting an MP5 in the air to scare away cars that were driving too close to them. An SUV full of insurgents spotted them and whipped around to begin a drive-by, which domed one of the mercs and hit two others in the femoral artery. Yeager forgot how to drive stick and thought the car was disabled because he couldn't put it in gear, so everyone bailed out and started randomly shooting vaguely in the direction of the gunfire. The insurgents just drove off after the initial volley and were never seen again. And then they almost gun run over by their own car dragging the corpse out.

But it quickly became clear that they did not have the full support of the Syrian government. First, the Syrian army stole their vehicles, then their paychecks never arrived, and finally a Syrian air force helicopter crashed into the Slavonic Corps convoy after flying too low and running into power lines, injuring one mercenary. The Slavonic Corps’ misadventures came to an end when the group disbanded after a defeat by rebels in the desert near the city of Sukhnah in southern Syria in October 2013. The mercenaries returned home to Moscow and were promptly arrested by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) for their unsanctioned Syrian intervention.

also I think this is the same dingus that threatened to shoot the president on his youtube channel, got his CCW revoked because of this, threw a hissy fit, and somehow got it reinstated Anyway I've been using high temp high pressure wheel bearing grease on my guns to pretty good effect. Granted I'm not in a super dusty environment or anything but I just give the grease points a little dab or two and I haven't had them gum up on me.
