labels like leftist, socialist, liberal, right, etc. might as well be meaningless. you can twist them to whatever you want them to mean and enter pointless semantic debates. terrible politicians use these terms as shields for their terrible policies

the only thing that loving matters are the concrete platforms a candidate supports

the democratic party is unpopular as gently caress because they have no loving platform and no vision and have hid behind the "left" and "liberal" label while they've been selling the gently caress out the past 8 years. when pressed on what democrats stand for, they won't give you credible concrete platforms they support. they'll just push mealy mouthed platitudes.

A lot of Democratic Attorneys General are pretty impressive. Here in New York, I'm a fan of Eric Schneiderman as well as the recently purged US Attorney for the Southern District Preet Bharara. From my home state, Tom Wolf has been doing as good a job as can be asked for as governor, but he's been stymied by the insanely reactionary PA legislature. I don't think any of these individuals would make good national politicians.

I am partial to Ann Kirkpatrick from Arizona, although she did not run the type of campaign I had hoped for from her this cycle in her bid for Senate against McCain. There are plenty of respectable mayors and congresspeople representing urban, working-class districts.

So idk. Start paying attention to local stuff and figure out who's good and let us know lol.

Good post.

It's true, centrists in our two party system tend to be the machine politician types who just want to keep their donors and party leadership happy above anything else. It's more that they're centrist because they're bad rather than that they're bad because they're centrist.

You could call me a centrist sort of but my actual political positions don't line up with any centrist politicians because they weren't determined by various groups of lobbyists and rich party elites.

i like labels too

they're fun to put on empty containers where i pour in stale cereal from boxes while navel gazing so i know which one is cheerios and which one is honey nut cheerios and which one is frosted

its very important

labels are good, and definitely not laboriously byzantine to the point where i should have just loving eaten the cereal in the first place in the moment of things, yanno? While it was still fresh and crunchy instead of a stale soggy mess that I keep shelving.

But labels tho! So fun :h:

e: I use this one to label and categorize things, people too
