They marketed it super poorly with the whole "Jack is Back." ads, no-one I've talked too realizes it's only going to be a 10 episode long mini-series, they think it's a full on reboot.Somberbrero posted:I've been rewatching back from the beginning and I have a lot of thoughts. It just never crossed my mind that this property in particular could be regarded as an empty cash grab. I get some of my favorite pieces of media are exactly that now. Like, I know not to be excited for any-loving-thing adapted from a horror property I love. But this is a finale developed by the creator for a show whose fanbase is either 15 years removed or covet it for it's animation style. This wasn't even one of the huge flagship pieces from CN, it got kinda niche. It'd be a hell of an odd way to go about things if the goal is to just make tons of money. The Powerpuff Girls reboot's how you approach that.

That was a loving great first episode. Scaramouche stole the show.

I was worried the new season would go too hard with the bleak "It's fifty years later and Jack is a traumatized mess" premise and wouldn't capture the wackier aspects of the series. And then Scaramouche showed up and called Aku on his cell phone

Despite there being almost no Samurai Jack merch, it still somehow got two lovely licensed games while it was running - one for the GBA and one for the PlayStation 2. This almost sounds like the start of a goon project.

That's hardly an achievement. In 2003, you could fart in a jar and someone would make a crappy GBA and PS2 game about it.

Give it to Ubisoft, and they can make an open world game where you scale towers. The hook is that the towers have time portals on top of them that Aku snatches away when you get up there. As a consolation prize, Aku tells you about some cool side activities that are put onto your map. There's an upgrade system, light stealth mechanics, and parkour.
