yeah, watching the streams, the whole beginning reminds me of a more disjointed first act of mass effect 1. good to know it plays well at least. i am sure i will like it enough. how is the character customization?

It's pretty in depth, and it didn't take me but about 5 minutes to make a character who looked fine and actually fits the voice better. If I had any complaint, it's that the codex entries aren't voice anymore. Know what would be cool? If Shepard voiced them, and depending on what gender you choose Shepard to be, that's the gender that voices the codex.

Nah. Ryder explicitly has some prior military combat experience, which is more than the player character necessarily has in any of the Dragon Age games.

So just to confirm, if I have origin access and I buy the game, I still have to wait until the 21st to play it after my 10 hours are up? Or do you get to keep playing if you own it?

You were "Commander" a lot of the the time in previous Mass Effects too.

In ME3 maxing out your basic weapons with cheap packs was most efficient in the long run, but I found it nice to buy a couple of fancy packs to get a rarer weapon up front. Don't make a habit of it until all of your poo poo weapons are at X, though.

wasn't that military experience just guarding a mass relay on a space station?

Only for Guy Rider.

Lady Rider was a glorified mall cop at archaeological expeditions. So, you know, much more qualified.

You know why Shepard was good? I mean, it was partially writing and good VA, but it was also because they gave a reason for people to think Shepard was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Shepard was a veteran badass and a major hero before you started. It wasn't just "You're the playable character", but "You are Space Audie Murphy", so yeah, okay, the standard everyone sucking up made sense.

It's the same drat thing as Robin and Corrin in Fire Emblem. One is a highly qualified badass, and the other is a total fuckup, but they both get the same excessive adoration from NPCs.

Cripes.

NOPE

the character creator is awful. But the rest of it I'm liking so far. Very pretty game, but I'm also running it at 3K at ultra settings :v:
