Anyone who's played the multiplayer, can you say who some of the "boss" villains are? The stream I watched had a mech, but I couldn't take watching the one guy constantly run away from his team and being basically no use while they did all the work.

There are HYDRAS, which are basically the Cerberus mechs from ME3. Then there are the Ascendant, who are Kett that fly and use an orb to shield themselves. While their orb is out they can't be hurt and they have an instant kill attack and a ranged Annihilation Field. Destroy their orb and they just kind of spaz for a while until it recharges, so they can be easy if you can hit the orb consistently. The Remnant get a different kind of mech, the Destroyer, which is two turrets on a giant body. Each part has its own shield and health bar, so you can blow up the turrets and make it (nearly?) harmless. Takes a lot of bullets or a good gun, though.

Yeah you have a good point. EA is pushing that directive on them, and the engine isn't built for that - However, DA:I wasn't nearly this bad (Albeit not much better).

my guess is they don't have to push it as hard. most the people are basicaly human and human faces. and most of the combat is more colorful MMO stuff. it probably doesn't strain the engine.

Utnayan posted:

They don't any more though unfortunately. But that is par for the course when acquired by someone like EA. You have some freedom for a while, but then the hammer comes down. Unrealistic expectations and a lot of time tabled (and quick) development. It's definitely true that EA wanted to turn DA into an annual franchise. And that is also when a majority of the people left.

Honestly, and not trolling in the slightest, it really sucks. Having a company with a massive amount of talent staying in the same place is a great thing for gamers. They are now scattered about, and that design philosophy will continue, just not with Bioware/EA. We are DEFINITELY seeing it continue with Guerilla Games and what they launched with Horizon Zero Dawn. Guerilla as of now is basically the new Bioware. I am excited to see what else they come out with and are already working on an expansion for HZD.

(Hoping they do some things with Apollo, because if they do, maybe we can get the space game we really wanted with some fantastic story, acting, dialogue, and mystery/exploration because this game definitely doesn't offer that)

i need to play horizon zero dawn, to some stuff pushed me off from preordering it .(i was worried it would just be monster hunter or some remade tomb raider remake, or the combat would be clunky) i like guerilla, the killzone games are fun and i hope they do a new one again someday or something else entirely again.

That and the segment of gamers who can't stand the thought of a video game romance being bisexual, thus somehow invalidating their already fake romance with the character. It's like I was saying, so much of the criticism of these games is batshit insane, which makes it really hard to pick out legitimate opinions at times. I'm more interested in reading about how, yet again, Bioware hosed up its open world content than how Cora isn't "feminine".

Wait, does that mean you never got that scene where you catch her reading a particular novel by Varric? You should, but with some choice mods and ignoring the fetch quests if you're on PC. I insist that everyone replaying it installs a mod or uses CheatEngine to trigger companion dialogue more frequently, because there is a ton of character development, reactions to the plot, and hilarious writing in those that you miss if you don't wander around exploring a lot. It's seriously my favorite part of the game, and I got hosed over by a bug that made it trigger super rarely in my first playthrough.

Also if you haven't played Trespasser, she is loving fantastic in the voice over of the credits, and it adds upgrades to powers that are wicked fun.

To be fair, maybe they did. I only got caught once when I had no idea what the gently caress it was and Vanguard charged it because my health was low and I needed to recharge off something. Learned a lesson though. Only other time I got in a sync-kill animation was when I was caught in a corner by a Fiend and it picked me up and ate me, but again, I might not have been at full health because it was an ugly situation.
