diebuster appeals to me more with how eager, unwavering Nono and the connection she builds with Lal'c struggles against the decay and cynicism of the word and ultimately overcomes it. perhaps my perception is coloredby having watched one show two decades after its time, and the other one merely years, but it seems like gunbuster is a work of nostalgia, an homage to its period, where diebuster feels more like it stems from within the current era and helps form its growth.

I felt like Diebuster's cast was better fleshed out in general, which puts it over the top for me. Noriko was the only character in Gunbuster who felt like a person to me, everyone else felt more like archetypes - really really well executed archetypes, just to be clear, but archetypes nontheless.

There's some concept art for Gunbuster floating around that basically shows the entire plot beginning to end and it all looks very 80s sci-fi. Today I visited Odawara castle, walked through Hakone and drank in various parts of it and chilled in an onsen, and then stayed up all night clubbing in Tokyo until the first train. Now I've done my dailies in my idol games, and it's time to sleep for the first time in ~24 hours.
