Man, I'd be so down for a Nier: Gestalt remaster with this same team. At the same time, I'd rather have another sequel.

Yeah, Project Gestalt logs 1-3 literally tie it all together and summarize how Drakengaard ties in the plot of Nier inasmuch as the Silmarillion summarizes the other 4 books.

Spoiling just in case, but he's right.

Popola/Devola and Emile are specialist merchants. Emile has a referential side quest associated with him.

The steam cards are kind of a lovely thing, though.

And while 2B and 9S' banter is fun, it can't even remotely hold a handle to Dad Nier and Weiss arguing with each other. Plus Kaine and Emil.

In general the characterizations are a MUCH slower boil in this game whereas Nier basically sets the stakes and makes you care about the characters pretty much from the start. Then you do the second playthrough and this whole extra insane layer of feels gets slathered all over what is already a pretty well developed set of characters.

Nier is a goddamn work of art.

Sounds like I got lucky with the PC port. If a port is bad I usually get hit with every problem. While I'm still early in, should I stick with English? So far I'm liking the voice for 2b. Dies it stay good? Nothing cringey or lost in translation?

Finished prologue on PC. Settings at max on 1080p fullscreen resolution. Framerate hitches are definitely noticeable during cutscenes, which are apparently pre-rendered (can someone verify that?). The only reason why it doesnt seem that way is because it goes from choppy to smooth instead of a consistent manner. Actual game-play feels silky smooth at 60FPS. 1080p feels oddly blurry. I think there's some upscaling going on here. Some investigating on the internet verifies that 1080 isnt actually what's being displayed, and theres a few small freeware apps which can allow adjustment and proper display.

Currently hung up on whether or not to modify the resolution via external program, or just wait for a patch. Do these sorts of Japanese console ports ever get patched? There was a dev announcement at 9 this morning stating that they know of a few problems. But there's no mention about a patch or future fixes.
