Does it trigger him running away or something? I couldn't find a good place to lure them away so I just popped him with the ol' spicy fire extinguisher while he was walking in the lead.

OK, ET Bookkeeper warnings. This ET is not as bullshit as the ex-dictator, but there are some buggy wrinkles to be aware of. Spoiled in case, no non-bug details on the target are provided.

1. Subduing at least some of the target's guards (not clear if particular ones or any of them) will cause him to flee. This will happen even if you do it silently!
2. The devs know we like to secure a clean route to the secondary objective before taking out the target. When the target dies, his escorts will go a location very near the ledger. One of them is an enforcer.

This is bar none the most evil target we've had.

If you're going for SA, the only solution I've seen so far involves blowing up a car near the front gate while he paths by it. This requires taking advantage of how his escort lags behind him. Some players have used gas from a barrel that's along the same route, but the timing is tight. In both cases, an audio distraction device can be valuable to separate the guards a bit more, and cause the target to path closer to the barrel. The escape vehicle will not work for this- he stands too far away, and damaging the vehicle stops you from restarting!

^^^ Aim lower, you're looking to cause the fuel tank to leak and then ignite the puddle.

Which one is the escape vehicle? I blew up the car at the corner of the orchard wall, across from the specops barn and the flatbed trailer. Didn't require any separation or coin fuckery or anything. I just winged it for an SA on my first run though, I regret not doing my usual bit of stalking to hear the dialogues, but I was in a rush and I forgot they're active for a whole week nowadays.

The escape vehicle is new- it's outside the perimeter fence, near the house. I...didn't know you could cause a car fuel leak, which might be viable.

Triggered gas explosion, game video froze. Killed the process and restarted; ET now "failed". I guess that's what I get for playing an AMD-branded game on an nVidia card.

I really am starting to sour on this mechanic, but I don't know how they can fix it beyond "make the game completely bug free". :(

Success, but... not silent. By a long shot. I'm not sure if unlocking everything has destroyed my patience but I decided the best way to deal with the target was turn one of the hackers into an unwitting human bomb. Having blown the target, the hacker and a couple of guards to hell, I for some reason assumed he'd drop the ledger, and when I couldn't find it, I assumed one of his remaining guards had picked it up. I don't know, I'm tired. Anyway, the short version is I murdered about ten more people before I finally noticed the safe.

Nul points.

Welp I just failed the Elusive Target. I got the ledger, I got him alone in a room, I walked up behind him with a lethal syringe, it said,"Hit x for lethal injection", I hit x.... and 47 kicked him in the knee and punched him in the throat causing an entire battalion to rush into the room and light me up :sigh:

Weird, I loaded the game up again and the Elusive Target was still available, even though I had died and was told I had failed the mission, which I assumed was a permanent state of affairs.

Still haven't been able to get him alone like I did that first time though, he either ignores sounds (not even sending his escort to go look) or heads off in completely different directions each time.

Short version, it looks like doing so, even silently, causes him to flee.

There's some extended plot going on here; the client, Locksley (a Robin Hood reference), was the person who directed the client in the Sarajevo Six cases to the ICA and 47. The briefing also teases Locksley as a further client who has used the ICA in the past and is planning to do so again in the future.

the important thing is to wait in the hacker room for some great dialogue

"You can't take away our budget! If you do, I'll... I'll.. I'll make some really angry memes about it!" (he actually says this)

for silent assassin:

1. kruger + lockpick + breach charge, start as a hacker
2. lockpick the bathroom
3. go downstairs to the room with the security recorder, there's a hacker enforcer, just wait for him to leave (blend in as a hacker and he won't see you)
4. in the recorder room, take the fire extinguisher
5. go up the stairs, drop the extinguisher at the top of the stairs, turn right and head down the corridor
6. shoot the extinguisher when the target comes up the stairs (he precedes his guards so they won't die and ruin your rating)
7. enter the bathroom, then the bedroom, breach the safe and take the poo poo
8. exit the bathroom - some guys will be coming to investigate the explosion, you'll get some static coming out of the bathroom but they shouldn't see you (just use your minimap and don't be retarded)
9. exit through the window of the Kane and Lynch videogame room
10. hug the fence so you don't trigger any cameras, exit via the bridge

Well I guess all things even out, now it lists the mission as failed for me so I guess it was an online thing - I was trying to set him up with the fire extinguisher after the lethal poison syringe bugged but I had it down in the hall instead of up the top of the stairs which would have made more sense, and now I won't get another chance at it. No luck for me on this one

I popped a fire extinguisher and the screen froze for about a second. When things came back up, I was compromised, hackers we're running around, and I was standing in the hallway with a gun in my hand like if just come out of some weird fugue state.

This is when the game should have played the Benny Hill music, as I ran into the bathroom, was followed by a guard, meleed him instead of subdued him, changed into his clothes, was immediately spotted by an enforcer, sprinted into the bedroom and hid in the wardrobe. Somehow I managed to stay hidden through the search, and as people returned to normal I breached the safe and got out. So mission accomplished, but no SA. Still, fuckups are a blast in this game sometimes.

If this is the one I think it is then no, it shouldn't require anything crazy. Throw a coin in the back to lure the cop then run around and shoot the car near the stairs so Decker checks it, lure him down into the stairwell and knock him out. Drag him to the box in the basement and use the nearby extinguisher to accident him, stash in box, change into the disguise in the locker room, run to the kitchen stairs. Carefully go to the end of the auction entrance hall and close the doors, plus the side doors; do not walk too far forward or the second target will start her script to walk upstairs. Walk behind the guard until you see a subdue prompt, subdue and take gun, drag into the womens' restroom. The model and Palace Staff on their phones shouldn't notice 95% of the time. Walk back down the hallway and walk enough to prompt the target to start moving, close the doors behind her, kill her in the hallway and put her in the same place you put the security guard. Exit downstairs, destroying evidence if necessary.

None of that requires insane distractions. People might not know you can lure the cop near Decker away, or that Decker will prefer checking the car over his bodyguard. Most Escalation videos are concerned with speed or just make a mountain of a molehill. EDIT: Also most people hate Escalations and don't do half of them, even the pros. I have 100% Escalation completion and I can assure you that zero Escalations require initiating RNG panic mode.

for the smoking woman you have to kill, I prefer to come from the other direction and coin her to the pond area just as she stops smoking, you can knock her out unseen behind the wall, then drag her body directly away from the double doors and once you're out of the bodyguards' view about 2/3 of the way along the pond's length dump her into the water and you should be able to do all this before the one dude who walks through the pond area shows up on his route.

You don't, it's a loving stupid Escalation and don't even attempt to SA the last level or you'll drive yourself insane.

But if you must do it right... there's a Masseur disguise pickup available in the lockers in the middle of the tunnel between the shoe shop and consulate garage.
