I'm a sucker for the buzzing guitars or guitars played through bass amps. (Necromantia, Necromantic Worship)

I also enjoy that their songs are evil ceremonies with some smut thrown in. Its an interesting atmosphere.

Necromantia used an 8 string bass, not just a bass amp.

Was I drunk the other day and imagined I saw a post quoting that the dude from Silencer is out of the mental institution he was in for a few years and is going to make new music with Silencer? Death, Pierce Me is indeed a thing and I wonder what their new music may sound like.

Black Anvil is really good live but play boring music.
Inquisition owns live.
Mayhem made my wife laugh but that was a cool show.

But yeah hopefully there won't be any visa issues this time.

I saw Taake (w/ De Profundis and Fen) last night and they were brilliant. Seriously one of the best shows I've been to. Hoest has so much energy and amazing stage presence, and the sound mixing was phenomenal for such a small venue.

De Profundis were pretty boring but Fen were good (plus the bassist and drummer were on the merch stand after the show and they're nice guys)

some by their splendor rival the colors of the painters, others the flame of burning sulphur or of fire quickened by oil.
I've loved The Maldiction Fields for years but somehow never looked for their new albums, I should check them out.

I'd love to see Fen live.

I've heard Taake mentioned a few times in the thread. Any good recommendations on where I should start with their albums?

Edit: nevermind, I'm listening to Noregs Vaapen right now and I'm getting the sense that I'm gonna need to listen to their entire discog. Really good poo poo so far!

I'm perfectly fine with the banjo solo and I also love the Bluegrass/Appalachian influence in Panopticon, but a cartoony boing (from a jew-harp no less?) is really out of place in that music imho.

Edit: also I just learned this past week that Panopticon are one of the few Anarcho-Syndicalist/Communist Black Metal bands out there so that makes me like them even more!

The tin whistle stands out to me more than anything, it's a little grating.

I feel like 3.5" floppies are now the most inconvenient media for music. Record players are still being manufactured, and plenty of older cars/home stereo systems have tape decks in them. But unless you're a giganto nerd or working with some ancient government computer that can't be replaced for some reason, floppy drives ain't around.

I'm waiting for some nutjob one-man black metal band to put out and album on reel-to-reel or magnetic wire.
