This is paradoxically also true. Good luck having any kind of local stores when everyone instead opts for the 40 minute drive to the nearest city and/or shopping center and its ICA Maxi to save 8% on panpizza. Gradually all the local services start disappearing as cars and internet render them out of demand and make your local håla about as attractive to live in as the middle of the Saharan dessert sending property prices into free-fall. This is the part where the local community rallies around a new store which they will commit to purchasing from or the decay then becomes permanent as everyone below the age of 45 moves to Stockholm/Malmö/Göteborg.

As it is, the prospects of a pair of students with fresh exams wanting to start a family is Stockholm is poor.
Personally I believe that not a market crash nor a building boom will solve the housing situation. There are untold numbers of people stashed away in parents basements, guest rooms, on sofas, in third hand contract apartments or heaven forbid even in Norrland, saving up cash desperately waiting for either to happen. They hopelessly believe that when the crash/boom happens they will be the one to snag one of those delicious four room apartments at Östermalm or wherever.
Then we have rich Europeans dreaming of a home in the socialist paradise of Stockholm competing for the living space and poor refugees that also has to be placed in the big city region because it is apparently cruel and unjust to place them elsewhere if the posters of this thread are to be believed.
There is simply not enough housing available, nor is it feasible to outbuild the demand.

The Swedish construction sector is so mismanaged and completely ineffective and broken and failed that it is a subject of fascination and study in international macro economics. Our very special combination of oligopoly, harmful union actions (as opposed to normal good union action) and a legal and regulatory framework from the deepest parts of hell makes any construction in urban areas cost approximatily infinite moneys and be delayed by infinite time.

Basically, we suck at building things and because politicians and the unions are short sighted special interest assholes we that made sure that no one is able to build things cheaper.

Unlike the other growing metropoles of the world which are having none of these difficulties thanks to the wonders of de-regulation...? Like you do get that you're just regurgitating a narrative here right? Swedish property laws are a mess but we're not exactly alone in that category, property is complicated. :raise:

Sweden get new retard party :-D

FI kommer bland annat driva frågan om att skrota Försvaret – och att Sverige ska ha helt fri invandring.

Yeah, that will work great.

I kinda admire the person who can be upset about Fi. They had their chance last election, didn't make it, and won't make it in the future. In all likelihood they will be even more irrelevant after next election.
The pool from which Fi can gain voters is pretty small, considering they are essentially a middle class academic party.

Yeah, Scandinavians discussing their own politics in English isn't all that common, which is a big part of why I read this thread.

And just to be clear, the next time this thread decides to quit speaking English for a while, I'll be posting in dialect.

Considering the modus operandi of the Danes in agreements with Sweden seems to be to gently caress something up and then try to get Sweden to pay parts of it. See DSB, PostNord.
Also the reimbursement agreement between Sweden-Denmark regarding cross-country work is hilariously lopsided in Denmarks favor.

What about those ICE4?

I think the cross-country reimbursement was something that came under Göran Persson, since it was around when the bridge was built. If we now are distributing blame. Pretending either side have been good at this is a bit too much.

As for Denmark and the coming air plane tax, I am laughing the whole way to Kastrup.

When discussing state finances and the management thereof, never forget that Maud loving Olofsson, patron saint of entrepreneurs, oversaw a deal that threw away 53 billion SEK and then refused to be questioned about it. Also, that Fredrik Reinfeld signed off on the deal and then lied about it, trying to just throw Maud under the bus. It's insane how they avoided pretty much any repercussions from that poo poo.

Well, Maud got a lot of questions about it and Lööf spent the 2014 election campaign trying to avoid answering questions about it.

But Vattenfall is not a voter issue and the questions about it drowned in the 2014 election since other issues were dominating.
Trying to be upset that politicians suck at business is kinda futile. In the 70s the government kept the ship building industry propped up which literally made them produce a poo poo load of boats that just ended up scrapped and then the industry died anyway.

It is miopic as poo poo to look at Vattenfall as Alliansens problem. Lars Josefsson came in as VD in 2000 and set all of this Dallas capitalism in motion, and did far more material damage to the company than Nuon with his German purchases just a few years before. That 53 billion figure Rödgröna likes to hear has a lot of financial engineering baked in -- strategic write-offs are actively used to reduce personnel costs and dividend payments to the Swedish state.

Nuon actually has the opportunity to continue on as a saleable company. Its gas and district heating infrastructure isn't going anywhere and, even with permanently low natural gas prices, it's fairly diversified. That German lignite they bought is on the verge of being legislated out of existence, and the reactors purchased by Vattenfall already have been. Add to that criminally exposing the company to Germany's fan death-levels of political superstition to starting a nuclear waste repository.

Lol for Nöjesguiden as serious reference.
Wasn't the KU after she had left her minister post?
I fail to see how this is worse than other similar fuckups where the politicians also got away scot-free.
Also in these cases, holier than thou is a pretty bad idea, cause it will expose your side a hypocrites when they invariably gently caress up doing the same thing.

That said, Alliansen were really bad at implementing control checks of their reforms.

It's funny because they campaigned against government overspending (remember them putting welfare cheaters front and center?) and then went on to completely overspend in a dystopian proportion.
