Martian Manfucker posted:I thought Skyrim used the Steam Workshop for mod distribution. I've never modded Skyrim, granted, but with other similar things you can unsubscribe from the mod and it automatically uninstalls/reverts changes. The Skyrim modding thread in Games goes into great detail about all the stuff you can use other than Steam Workshop. So yeah, you CAN use Steam, but a shitton of mods are hosted on Skyrim Nexus and use a third-party program to activate. Which I'm guessing Griffin must be doing because the sexy ones aren't on Steam, they're most likely from the horrible mod site known as LoversLab.

Does the Max Fun drive usually start at midnight or in the morning in their timezone? I've been waiting to subscribe but I'm in Australia so the time makes a pretty big difference to when I can start listening to all these TAZ episodes I've been waiting to hear about. Speaking of which I've been listening to Rose Buddies and Griffin mentioned being a massive fan of the reality show Solitary, and now the Suffering Game arc makes a lot more sense.

The format is pretty similar to the zero escape games, sure. What I'm saying it makes sense for someone who enjoys a show about watching people cope with being tortured every episode to think it's a good idea to make an arc where characters are tortured every episode with no sense that they can avoid it (without getting into a derail about all the ways they could have tried to break the game and didn't).

The TAZ and Flophouse ones are pretty obscure and good too. Also I listen to SPY, Trends Like These and Still Buffering regularly and I didn't get the references in those pins. Disappointed I guess.

Part of why SPY is so great (imho) is that it's been going for nearly 10 years without amassing any catch phrases or tired references or in-jokes, but this also makes this kind of merchandising pretty impossible. Their bandana design from last year's maxfun drive sucked too for the same reason.

It's a hulk hogan news? It's a hulk hogan news! That's the longest running joke they had and it ended years ago. Even the Get to Know Us vocal is from ep 1 or 2 when they were throwing out ideas for segment intros

If they do have a running gag it doesn't tend to last for very long, except for maybe "here's your final Overheard for [current year]". I think there was a point where they tried to get the Over-Bird going, which I think was an bird in a top hat, but I don't think it ever caught on. I think the next closest recurring icon would be Grampa. I honestly don't know if their pin is a reference to something that I missed, or if they really have that little to pull from for pin designs. It's lack of catchphrases is absolutely a draw, though, even if it does make it difficult to passively show support for the show.
