Once again something mooDO but stellar...don't. All the races had a neutral/happy/angry art and animations and the lizard duds had like neck pouches that would change colour and the robots eyes and lights would also get angry.

If they're giving us EU4 levels of combat feedback there should be EU4 levels of unit design. Either we need quite a different battle system that provides way more meaningful options/strategies and feedback, or a greatly simplified unit designer that boils it all down to the few meaningful options the game's combat system is able to clearly convey.

I mean, it's been basically just this side of officially confirmed that war, and by extension presumably combat, is getting a major overhaul.

I hope in the war update they either totally gut and redo the ship design system or (and?!) the way combat and ship movement works and they ignore any complaints that "But I liked how it was!!!"
Also as a secondary hope, I hope what ever they replace the systems with is actually better.

Ok, let me start over.

1. Hawking radiation is a thing that exists and relates to black holes bleeding mass.

2. A Penrose-Hawking singularity is a thing that exists. It also relates to black holes.

3. So, if you found a singularity where a black hole was bleeding mass, and that was titled "Penrose Radiation", you would connect Penrose to both Hawking and Singularity, and then realize the reference to Hawking radiation.

4. Obviously, the OP found that funnier than Peddling radiation.

5. Now that I've gone through that chain slowly, there is no possible way you will ever find it funny, but obviously people disagree on that point.

Yes, I am familiar with Hawking radiation and yes, I have heard of Penrose.

The joke is that it's obviously not Hawking radiation in-game because there's nobody called Hawking in the player empire's scientific cadre, but it has, through the magic of narrative, ended up with a name that carries the same literal meaning as hawking, i.e. peddling.

"Penrose radiation" is a meaningless substitution of one name for another and you should feel stupid and dumb.

The species screen should list all derived/modified species under their parent and allow you to collapse that parent. Having that hierarchical layer might resolve the issues with xenophobes being unhappy about alien overlords after modification, too.

Yeah, I've been wanting that since I saw the species screen. Also have xenophobia modified by how related a species is.
