The nice thing about lower end graphics cards is that they've come a long way in the last couple of years. They are a lot more efficient than they used to be and much more powerful. Intel's onboard video these days isn't too bad. You may want to look into upgrading your CPU at some point too. The 2500k is a good processor for most things but when it comes to gaming it's starting to show its age.

It's unbelievable how relevant the 2500k still is, but the 4 thread limit is being hit. Mine has been running at 4.8ghz for nearly 6 years now. My laptop with a 2ghz C2Q is turning 8 years old this year and still rocks all kinds of stuff. Back in my day, a 3 year old computer was complete trash.

I did low carb back in the early 2000s - I've always been a bit overweight but it was really bad between 2005-2008 - and dropped most sugary drinks then. I'll still have a bottle of cane sugar sweetened pop maybe once every other month when the mood strikes, but otherwise I haven't looked back. There's still days where beer/liquor is my only source of caloric intake. This is probably a good portion of my problem.

It felt like the kind of thing where they could have it activated on all cars and just try to get people to buy into the system. Driving between LA and SF and around there, I didn't see a single toll, but didn't know what to look for. Like, the rental comes with EZPass or whatever it's called and you just get charged by Dollar for any tolls? And it's a system you can opt into/out of but if you opt out and drive through a toll without paying they charge you 5 times as much or something? All of my relevant driving is to/from Bay Area (I live in Reno and sis lives in Berkeley)(and it's not in a rental) but unless it's significantly different elsewhere, you're never going to unwittingly drove through a toll. Not everyone has EZPass and they still want their money so there will be cash lanes. And they are cash lanes, don't bother trying to hand them a credit card. The one time I forgot to make sure I had a five on me it turned into $25 since it's not like they have the option of making you turn around and go the other way (sent me a nice photo of my license plate). And then the $25 turned into $75 when I forgot about it for a few months.

I'm waiting for the 1080ti to come out fully because it's going to tank the price of the rest of the 10 series cards hard- already starting to see 1080's at 1060's prices. I'm not really needing to upgrade the rest of the PC- it's a 2600K that runs happily at 4.2ghz with a corsair HN80 water cooler on it. Bout the only thing I could really upgrade would be swapping the 16gb of 1600mhz ram out for 32gb of 2133 and getting another 512gb ssd and run them in raid for a primary drive. The Evga 770 GTX superclocked 4gb GPU still holds it own but BF1 constantly bitches about frame rates.

I have a GTX970/i5 6600k and for the first month or so BF1 bitched about frames constantly. It took a few driver updates and some tweaking to get it smooth; what helped a lot was editing some (iirc) .ini/config file to limit frames to ~60, and then increasing that number by 10 or so until it started getting bitchy again. Something about the CPU and GPU trying to render max frames all the time and struggling to do so. I've kind of already forgotten the reading I did, but I recall the number of CPU cores active/percentage being used had as big an effect as the GPU.

Are all parts stores loving garbage useless or is it just Repco? Literally every part I have bought from them has been incorrect and I've had to take it back and get it elsewhere. I always tell them exactly what I need and then they ask for the registration number and plug it into their computer and then somehow sell me the wrong thing. In retrospect I should stop buying things from them. How do so many developers release such poorly optimized pieces of garbage as finished products? It's worth it to spend another 2-3 weeks working on optimization, so that your game is realistically playable. My boss was only allowed to give out a single 3% raise, three 2% raises, and twenty one 1% raises a year in a department of 35 workers, but I only got told "be more careful" when I destroyed almost $40,000 in medical equipment on accident because it was improperly loaded for shipping and I sliced through the seals while removing it from boxes... Or at my last job when they just sent an email explaining the process of closing, instead of taking the time to train supervisors how to close the bar. Our inventory was permanently hosed and every bartender would be scrutinized for wasting booze. All the while, we'd have cases and cases of liquor that ended up getting literally poured down the drain, but none to make the profitable drinks that we were being instructed to push on customers. They also fired all of the maintenance staff and we were left on one of our biggest weekends without working taps because not paying a guy to fix and maintain the pressurized system that generates your revenue is good business quote:Most people I've met are as knowledgable as anyone in AI.
