There's also a bit of a bloodbath in movies that are getting yanked -- and the stuff that's getting added looks like pure dogshit outside of the MST3K revival.

Yeah, other notable mentions are every single Superman movie not directed by Zach Snyder, Princess Bride, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Usual Suspects. I might drop Netflix until the next Marvel series comes out, and even then after Iron Fist I might wait for reviews.

I'd be down for a bunch of other Kaiju movies in that style, that's a cinematic universe I could get behind.

Okay, so, for no reason, here's my ranking of Kong movies excluding Mighty Joe Young/Kongsploitation: 1) Kong: Skull Island 2-4) King Kong '33 / King Kong Escapes / King Kong Lives (tie) 5) King Kong vs. Godzilla 6-7) King Kong '76 & '05 (tie) --- bare minimum threshold of quality --- 8) Son of Kong 9) The Mighty Kong K. Dissapointed Owl posted:Now, a comedy routine does not equate actual sentiment. But it reflects pretty poorly. Ah, the good old Oppression Olympics. I've noticed that lately Dave Chapelle has turned into "Old Man Yells at Cloud". Instead of complaning about whose civil rights battles are the most important maybe he should support everyone's civil rights battles. Especially since the oppressors tend be the same group of people in just about every case. And if he's also concerned about racism someone ought to let him know that black transwomen are most common victims of murder and violent crime out of all LGBTQ identifying people. I'm starting to wish he'd stayed retired so I could have fond memories of his comedy. therattle posted:You know what's a great song? So great it could almost be Bowie? All The Young Dudes by Mott The Hoople. (If I am right, they got their name from a Monty Python sketch about band names). He wrote it for them and also produced the entire album The name of the band comes from a book about a circus. Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture and the OST from it feature David Bowie performing the track. The studio version of Bowie's All the Young Dudes is one of those things that gets crammed on bonus discs. The only one I know of off the top of my head is the two CD 30th Anniversary Edition of Aladdin Sane. His versions are good. Go listen to them. ruddiger posted:Wow, I always assumed the Bowie version was the original. Learn something new. He included it in his live sets of the era because it was a hit but he wrote the song for Mott the Hoople because he liked their music and he wanted to give their struggling career a boost (it worked). So technically the original version is theirs. Discount Viscount posted:Here's another great Bowie being a friend/fan moment: If you like this and you haven't already, check out Iggy Pop's the Idiot. It a fantastic album and David Bowie not only produced it, he also cowrote many of the songs (Bowie's own version of Iggy's China Girl from the Idiot would appear later on Let's Dance.) and performed on them with musicians that he would use heavily on his own records in the late 70s. Great stuff. The Idiot tour was pretty cool because Bowie himself was part of the backing band simply as a musician and not as a co-headliner or anything. This particular song also got a new version called Red Money a couple years later on Lodger by David Bowie. CopywrightMMXI posted:Comic/Burger chat: is Jughead the best glutton in comics/tv/all time?
