I think the issue is a lot of people don't know how to cook/prepare them and they can be awful if done wrong. They're actually the best vegetable, however.

I haven't cooked a meal in like a year I just realized  Only upside to that is I have a tiny food budget because my work gives me $40 on seamless when working past 7 (which is every day) so that's dinner and lunch the next day

Whoever talked about turmeric a few pages back was spot on about the coloring issue. I made a Moroccan pork tenderloin last night, using one hand to mix the spices together, and woke up this morning to find the fingernails on my left hand looked 100 years older than the fingernails on my right.

I'm also a pretty chill person who doesn't need much to be happy, so adjust your expectations accordingly. I'm used to Atlanta which is probably one of the worst cities in the country for it...

Rush hour is easy mode but if you're living in the SW side of town and commuting to the Gigafactory you'll have to go through all of what there is. Nothing like the rush hour of any major city of course, so if you have experience you won't care about the 5m extra because people are doing 35 rather than 65

So a hospital asks one of our support staff how hard would it be to change a field on a document from replacing the coded instructions with the full written instructions. I figure, that should be something super easy to check, but the example they give me is Ibuprofen, with nothing else to clue off of it. The hospital turns out to have 1875 different entries in their drug dictionary for ibuprofen. Each of which has their own billing code entries, each of which has a separate entry for each insurance. ... Healthcare is so hosed in this country man. Reno is a surprisingly nice place to live considering how lovely basically every connotation is. The minor league ballpark rules, the casinos get decent acts to come through, hot august nights is good, dope bbq festivals. I have some family friends that live there. I'd tend to avoid living there if I was single but it's decent enough if you're married.

I was working as a student in an OB/GYN clinic and a young woman (like early 20's) came with a letter asking what it was. It turned out she had had a pap smear and the letter contained the results saying everything was normal and to come back at such and such time for follow up. The problem was that it was in spanish. Its a common problem in Miami with second and thrid generation who don't speak Spanish but people assume they do. She asked for us to change her language preference to English, so that her letters and documentation all come in a language she actually knows (the hospital has all forms and documents in english, spanish, and creole). It seemed like a fair request and I thought how hard could this be, simply changing the language. Cut to an hour later and some poor nurse and I are still trying to figure this all out. We looked through the charting software, called admitting, called IT, called everyone we could think of. At one point I was like "Someone somewhere had to check a box that says Spanish. Who is that person?" To this day I still have no clue how to alter the language preferences for a patient.

In our system it's stored on a query attached to the patient's medical record that's defined by whomever set it up in your hospital's system, so would presumably be entered by a user typically when the patient's first visit occurred. This all depends on the system, that medical record will be different then the patient visit record, so would not be editable in most of the applications the typical user would have access to, so yeah, I bet it could easily be inaccessible for your user group. Like, you wouldn't give users in radiology or lab testing access to edit that, because why would you ever need to? Today at work I attended a lunchtime meeting that had Jimmy Johns subs catered, I had a Gargantuan and it was not great but I chewed it all. My opinion on healthcare in America is that the real issue is how much we spend per capita on healthcare and how fast thats risen and how much more it is than anyone else in the world. Addressing the high cost of American healthcare is bound to piss off either healthcare providers, insurers or patients, so it is hard to do. And we aren't even close to the healthiest nation!
