I simply cannot believe Republicans made this more of a cluster gently caress than the actual ACA creation.

Final bill will include EHB repeal and is likely a final gamble that when push comes to shove HFC will bend. I think it won't even matter as I think they may not have moderates with the EHB repeal.

It's not over until the actual vote happens though.

It's a mistake to think of this as a thing "Republicans" are doing. It's a dispute between people with very different goals from each other. All of them can tell you a "repeal and replace" bill they'd vote for. It's getting 216 to agree on one that's the problem.

I get that and I'm not disputing the political realities at play here. I guess I'm just posting my utter contempt for Republicans in how they have conducted themselves as the minority party for 10 years. They created the HFC and that's the reason they can't govern now.

sorry guys i think the lovely trumpcare bill passes either tmr or next week: the suicide caucus is suicidal but not that suicidal, they want to get re-elected and trump is playing the "I don't care if I win re-election" madman theory chess move.

the HFC will bend and the moderates will go along because it's more politically suicidal not to pass a repeal than to pass a repeal

Trump played this pretty well except for signing up for it in the first place thing, the senate OTOH is gonna be much bigger challenge

this bill has 17% support

its pretty hard to sell this to moderates as more suicidal to vote against

HFC districts are among the safest in the House, and they won't be facing primaries from the right over this. In addition to the Koch war chest that's been pledged.

Trump rallying in those districts won't matter, they know this bill isn't a full repeal of Obamacare.

I meant moreso on an overall/national level. Of course they're always going to have some places on lockdown since, as EW has covered multiple times, some people are blindly loyal to a baffling degree. I think a lot of people got inured to how good they had it under Obama and how competent he was at the job and either voted for Trump or sat the election out because they either thought it didn't matter who won or they just wanted to shake things up. The kind of poo poo we've seen over the past two months ought to disabuse a lot of people of the notion that both parties are just two sides of the same coin.

Lulz, I've heard Reps in the HFC say just repealing the EHB isn't enough. These ideologues want even more time to review the bill before a vote is cast but more so they'd rather start over. Any kind of language in the bill that vaguely looks like Obamacare will probably be shot down.
