I got to the transgender lady on Eos and boy were people taking all that out of context. The amount of information given to you by the NPC is exactly the amount you'd get from any NPC when you ask "So why did you come here?" and they spill their life's story to you.

And yes, you have to ask first, she doesn't open with "Hi I'm transgender here's my deadname." It's almost like a bunch of criticism of this game was based on dishonest poo poo!

NPC's don't treat you as a weirdo rear end in a top hat when you casually ask them personal questions in this RPG 0/10 I would return the game if I hadn't stomped the disc to pieces

There are entire swaths of this game that is better than ME3 and entire swaths that are worse. But I have to say...I'm on Kadara right now and the supposedly poisonous sulfuric hell planet of outlaws is a goddamn beautiful mountain range and incredibly fun to explore.

Thirty levels into the game, I have to say that the Profiles were a really neat idea that sadly don't work all that well in practice. Having all the powers go into cooldown when you switch them makes what should have been an in-depth tactical aspect of combat a very unfun thing instead.

Why give us a 'squadmate go to this position' button when they stay there for maybe ten seconds before doing their own thing again?

Why give us the option to manually level our squadmates when they do stupid poo poo like charge headfirst into an undamaged fiend?

Combat is abysmal.

Found an interesting bug on Eos, spoilered just in case.

After escaping the vault and getting the atmosphere online, I remembered that they had said something about a room that was behind a barrier, but that it was gone when i was running for my life. I went back into the vault, thinking I could retrace my steps and get the stuff there, but turns out that it restarted the priority mission. However, PeeBee is now invisible, everything in the vault is explored, and there's no way to go back to a previous save because the game now thinks I'm on the priority mission yet again. At least I looked in every side room, here's hoping the enemies don't respawn.

Like all good stories, the second act begins with a call to action and the building of a robot.

Nichael posted:

Does the Andromeda level up sound incorporate a less than a second segment of the Vigil theme? Or is that my imagination?

Sounds that way to me too. Which is cool, but also annoying because at level 23 I have yet to hear a single new track or musical cue even half as memorable as anything from the original trilogy.

Planet chat: Aya, Havaaraaalllll, and Kadara are much more interesting environments than Eos and Voeld, aka desert and snow desert. Have main quests to go to two more but haven't done that yet, so TBD on those. If you're going to do the whole open world thing, why front load the boring ones? This zone progression is the goddamn Hinterlands all over again. At least they had the courtesy to have more explicit "move on to the other stuff" prompts here, but... why on earth do they keep doing this?

Vanguard chat: It has gotten way more fun once you've got maxed Charge, Backlash, plus some points in the biotic and combat passives. Backlash, the melee shield recharge, jump jets/hover/dodge, and the more open combat settings combine to make for a more varied combat loop than ME3, but yet still feels like Vanguarding, it's cool. Have been neglecting Nova, so time to start dumping points into that. Also, anyone have tips on melee/guns that fit best? I'm rocking a Krogan hammer right now, but maybe something faster would be smoother? When it comes to guns, I'm constantly swapping things in and out, can't seem to find ones that feel just right.

Having more fun, but game is still mediocre. After the trial, I was expecting uniform mediocrity. But further in, there have been a lot more moments where I'm pleasantly surprised by something... and a lot more moments where something is buggy/frustrating/laughable. Though nothing has quite topped Addison's tired face yet, but there's still time!

Yeah, I have to say the visual design on the planets, especially Havarl and Kadara is top notch. I wish there was more to DO while exploring (maybe an occasional new enemy instead of same 2-4 monsters and random raiders/kett) but just exploring for the sake of it is pretty fun!

It's also kind of weird that the Exile faction is super well developed in MP (like 6 types of unique dudes, krogan berzerkers and hacker dudes and pyro guys) and yet the only two you regularly encounter in SP are the grunts and sharpshooters. Singlplayer REALLY needs more enemy variety to ease up the tedium... or maybe that's just because I'm playing on Normal?

Edit: Agreed on profiles 100%, should have just let you have six powers at a time like DA:I, maybe with longer cooldowns overall the more powers you have equipped at once. It doesn't help that a lot of powers just aren't very good, and with only 3 to choose from at a time it makes much more sense to put all your points into one profile rather then spread them out over multiple ones that you can't use simultaneously.

Sorry for not sifting through any posts to find any answers about this, but is the game running like hot garbage for anyone else? I have a pretty decent computer (8 gigs of ram, GTX 970, i7 950) but even on medium settings I'm getting like 20 FPS and lower. Plus the game looks like garbage at those settings. Is there any sort of fix for this? I want to be able to hate on this game for being mediocre, but I can't even play it at this point.

Edit: sound seems pretty hosed up for me too, like background noises popping in and out based on where i'm looking.
