Just watched the Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Loved them. Another excellent blind buy. Some day I need to finally see Slacker, given that Linklater is batting 1.000 for me.

Linklater is my favorite American! I'd recommend Slacker, Dazed&Confused, Waking Life, A Scanner Darkly and of course Boyhood.

Two-Lane Blacktop is not Linklater but he mentioned it's one of the movies that inspired him, has sort of the same feel to it.

Well, of course I know him.
He's me.
A Scanner Darkly is one of my dream Criterions. I know there are probably more deserving films, but its only blu-ray release is kinda barebones.

It's funny, yeah. As a point of comparison, I'd put it up against The In-Laws. It's definitely not as funny as The In-Laws, but it's good, and has a similar vibe to it. If you can get it for cheap (I don't think there's a Bluray, just the DVD), go for it.

Already have Two-Lane Blacktop and loved it.

Finished the trilogy and my immediate reaction is that it is my favorite trilogy with a bullet, and I think Before Sunset is in my top 10 list. I'm kind of glad I was able to watch them all over a weekend rather than having to wait in between them. I would have been too young for the first one, so I would have seen the first 2 and then waited. I think being on board from the beginning would have been a totally different but satisfying experience, though.

I'll pick up Straw Dogs and blind buy They Live By Night. That looks extremely up my alley.

I'd seen that Divine "Condone first degree murder!" gif before and never got it, but someone posted it in GenChat a few days ago and it finally clicked with me. I think I'm ready to dip my toes into the weird world of John Waters. Gonna blind buy Multiple Maniacs next week.

Are the versions they throw up on filmstruck the same as in the new blu ray releases? Like if I watch straw dogs on filmstruck, will it be the new 4K transfer with all of the new goodies etc.?

Same transfer at a lower bitrate. I haven't used it since the beta period but not every movie has extras uploaded so probably no on all the goodies.

The good thing about Filmstruck is that they seem to stream at 1080p compared to the old Criterion on Hulu that was only 720p. It's worth giving the service a test drive. There's alot of great stuff on there (along with some OOP titles and OOP extras)
