My theory is that punching a drain hole into The Besty Zone created a path to a "minus world" of sorts. Looks to me like Steve is the real forbidden character here and now were looking at some behind the curtain "Out of Play" area of CQ's meta-narrative.

I used to think Cucumber Quest was a subversive take on Paper Mario games, but then I watched an LP of Thousand-Year Door years after playing it, and noticed that the comic is a fairly straight replication of the games instead of anything subversive.
