How is Geary captain? Statistically speaking, Lin Jong is a better player than him and he's only okay.

Etihad was hotter than vulcan's cock. Saints played some loving stupid zone that the Dees just walked right through. We weren't playing it last year and I don't see why we'd introduce it now. Saints mids were weak as piss. Dees had 117 disposals more but the Saints had 8 less tackles (only making 53 in total). When Jack Lonie (AKA THE SMALLEST FUCKER ON THE GROUND) has the most tackles in the tema you know something is wrong. Hickey was a useless sack of crap and all our forwards - who used to be good kicks - forgot how to kick. Gresham and Steele were the only good things about the day. Roo doesn't deserve to have his career ended that way in such a poo poo game. Dees were good and the Saints were lucky to be that close. Clayton Oliver

Oliver is hosed. His handballing out of traffic is already elite, and he racks up massive stats despite having lowish time on ground due to still being a bit of a ginger fattie. As you said I have no idea why the saints kept with zoning when Melbourne started hitting targets. One clearance went Gawn to Jones who hit up Watts in 15m of space despite Melbourne having 4 forwards to 6 defenders. Really hope that's not an ACL for riewoldt. 4 goals in half a game of footy as a 34 year old. Quite like how many people we rotate through the middle now, even Hogan.
|
# ? Mar 25, 2017 10:24 |
|
Yeah, every time the Dees had the ball they just had space and there was numerous times where their forwards were all by themselves for no apparent reason. Either the zone was hosed, the Saints were lazy or the Dees were just working harder. It's probably a combination of all three. With players like Armo, Ross and Dunstan playing some seriously average footy then the Saints midfield stands no chance against any decent team.

There's a few things to get used to tonight. When the Bombers got their first few goals I was thinking "this is gonna be a long season" but without playing spectacularly well we're back in front. The new Mitchell seems pretty good, not sold on this Striker Eureka guy yet though.

People anticipating Hawthorns demise/slide out of the eight are being a little optimistic I feel. As you say, yeah we are being tested by Essenodn, but we are able to keep them at bay without yet playing the sexy football that Hawthorn is famous for.
