need opinions!

i was thinking of trying out a tkl board with companion numpad so i can switch between the two configs, but in order to maintain the AESTHETICS i'd like to buy the pair from a same brand

code/wasd doesn't do a numpad, which is a shame

i'd prefer clears/browns, bonus points if it's something that looks very 1980s (think model m) since i'll be matching it up with the honeywell set i posted a couple pages back

i was going to pick one up to keep in my bag as a comedy calculator option but for this project it'd look too recent

i was thinking of going for a cherry g80-3700, but they're both a pain in the dick to find and i'd be hard pressed to even think of a period correct tkl cherry board

Buy two. I love my WhiteFox at work and now when I try to program stuff at home on the various other previously awesome keyboards I really just want the WhiteFox.

Also, don't buy a Kinesis buy a real keyboard.

I type dvorak on a kinesis and enjoy the labor of the physicians and engineers who thought empirically about the best typing experience. Having said that, I understand and respect those who dogmatically insist on 60% qwerty boards. After all, when you're raised in a house with non-split boards how could you think differently? The most important thing is that we, enlightened and scientifically minded typists, don't let our simple minded friends drag us into the depths of keyboard mediocrity.

I thought about learning colemak but it's superficially different than dvorak. You get:

1) A 2nd backspace, which is irrelevant on a kinesis / dipswitchable on a HHKB / bindable in an OS
2) copy / cut / paste shortcut "compatibility", which is a crutch you might find useful in the first months of learning

For this you trade:

1) vowels are scattered across the board which loses dvorak's alternating left/right patterns
2) Worse odds of a computer or keyboard being compatible with it

Overall: 100x better than the qwerty, but I think dvorak makes more sense for me
