4 cheetahs looking purely for intel can reliably sweep scouting, but it's really boring.

It's good on the condition that you can have their armor open before they are on top of you in the brawl, and it only works if your teammates are also using similar builds. If you bring that into a fight and have three teammates who are dedicated brawling builds you are likely to lose the match.

If you're fighting an open mech, someone shows their back to you, or someone overheats during a fight then that shadowcat will shred them.

Paired with a fairly quick streakboat is hilarious. They pick a target, vomit, and then you de-limb them.

Certain maps don't have escort mode so they don't appear on the map voting screen when that mode is an option. HPG, Bog, Mining. Played for 15 hours without seeing HPG once last weekend so it happens.

If you want a difficult mech to play, the PHX3S is technically the fastest and most mobile mech in the game.

It is also retarded and fits less firepower than a locust.

But do listen about the mech being stupid and being seriously anemic in firepower.

There are lights that are 1/2 the weight and easily sport 2-3x the firepower of the PHX3S

What do you mean, getting overwhelmed, though?

edit: Anyone got advice for fending off swarms of huginns and locusts with maybe 1 medium mech backing the enemy lights up in Scouting? Or does it boil basically down to:
1. Call targets
2. Go for the legs
3. Always move forward in a circle since if you just rotate your legs are very vulnerable

If you're in medium brawlers you don't split up. Ever.

When the lights come to you they have to fight all four of you, and if they don't come to you then you can either bully your way through the intel or catch them when they're coming to the dropships.

If you split up they can all just swarm your dumb rear end and your buddy that split off from the group, get two free picks easily, and then get two more picks on the remaining two guys.

We were together, yeah. Our random missile hunchback IIC just stood in place and rotated and folded instantly doing a grand total of 8 damage. The rest of us didn't do too much better.

The other round we died in, our random 4th player was a triple ER LL Shadowcat. Similar things happened there.

That's just an issue of having idiots for teammates, and there is nothing you can do about that. In scouting the importance of skill and loadout is amplified by a huge margin, because having one incompetent person is the equivalent of having four incompetent people in the 12v12s.

The reason that clans did so well in scouting before the stormcrows were removed was that their idiots could smash 6 SSRM6s onto a stormcrow and had a skill floor that consisted of them vaguely pointing the reticle at a red thing. IS didn't have equivalent mechs or equipment that could make retards function at a basic level.

Four clan brawlers will 100% wreck four lights that try to come in and fight, but if you're down a person because of bad builds and/or bad skills then you have to pick up the rest of the burden and carry your incompetent teammate kicking and screaming to victory.

Blow out side torsos, and have everyone focus on one target at a time. Don't show your back, and never overheat. If you are in a situation where you are going to die due to legging or you have a guy cutting out your back, turn on override and blast the poo poo out of the designated enemy until you explode to maximize your damage output.

If you can't hit lights, aim better or bring some streaks to aim for you.

I haven't really done any theorycrafting for clan builds, but SPL cheetahs and hunchbacks of many varieties are consistently the most dangerous things I've faced in scouting.

Hm. Blow out side torsos? Legs can be hard to hit on lights even with lasers, so that's fair I suppose.

Not showing your back is very difficult against 3/4 light mechs circling you in a medium though.

If your team focuses fire and they actually hit a light, they will kill them extremely fast. You don't have to worry about dead people flanking you, unless you are being flanked by the emotional guilt of taking a human life.

If you are twisting properly you will also keep lights from hitting your back. Twisting is a fundamental brawling skill, and it is especially important for lights and mediums. Even more so in scouting.
