I just hope the fuckers periscope more of Steven Segalls Movies. Personally, I don't agree with Chapo w/r/t defense of Eastern Europe against Russia (I have an interest in not seeing any T-72s doing donuts in my hard any time soon), but they're otherwise great.

The difference is that the idea you're asking is How To Do A Thing, while this one has to explain what lead to to this being a thing and has to put it in context of the culture of such at the time. I mean this video could have been like 1 minute of "You see locks on old computers because of security reasons but nowadays people can just use software. Subscribe for more factoids like this!" but instead you get something with a big more meat into it. Otherwise it would be like if the Dollop or Jon Bois went "Oh screw it, people just want to know about a history fact without much fluff" and start churning out stuff like this.

Didn't Matt say he liked The Duelists, but not enough to change his opinion on Scott? It was Felix that didn't seem to give a poo poo about the movie, due to its significant lack of bipedal tanks.

He then did Ki-yai and bumped between two kids to demonstrate the technique.

Movies like Marked for Death, On Deadly Ground and Fire Down Below have this weird liberal hippie viewpoint where they fetishize marginalized cultures while still portraying them as awful stereotypes. And that's without getting into the environmentalism. Out for Justice is Seagal's real breakthrough (along with Under Siege) and has an opening that simply has to be experienced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_An5h3v00Ng Megaman's Jockstrap fucked around with this message at 17:42 on Mar 30, 2017 |

Does Chapo's massive funding on Patreon prove that there is a market out there with people willing to A) Pay for leftist content, and B) Actually pay for content online instead of ad-supported content?

Rinkles posted:I'm curious if their funding would change if they went fully free. I mean, yeah, it would have to. But I think the Patreon system works great (company politics aside) - it encourages people who enjoy the podcast to chip in, lets people on the edge still listen for free (and possibly buy in at some point), and doesn't have the clunkiness of ads that I'd just skip anyway. I think people will genuinely pay for content if they like the creators, like the content, and feel like they get something out of it (double the episodes and no ads!). I'm subscribed to Giant Bomb (though I'm not sure I'll renew come November), a Grey Wolf, and about to become a citizen of Cum Town.

Stewart Lee (UK comedian) wrote a memoir a couple years ago (I'm reading it now), and he talks about how artists have become able to cultivate a dedicated following and make a living without having to be a big national name. You might not have millions of fans, but there are people who like you, and they'll come out to shows or buy your stuff. It's kind of inspiring.

Yeah it rules. There's a lot of hyper-grognard stuff that survives that way which I have no interest in but it's nice to see them around. Like that grandad twitch streamer who plays the Farm Simulator games, or the dude who makes endless youtube videos about market speculation on Magic the Gathering Cards.
