Night of the Hunter is a goddamn masterpiece, and Will's position that Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the greatest horror movie ever is hard to argue with. Their constant references to Casino made me finally sit my rear end down and watch it, and that was a great decision.

But first, let's go back over the history of the Zelda franchise...

Personally, I don't agree with Chapo w/r/t defense of Eastern Europe against Russia (I have an interest in not seeing any T-72s doing donuts in my hard any time soon), but they're otherwise great.

The difference is that the idea you're asking is How To Do A Thing, while this one has to explain what lead to to this being a thing and has to put it in context of the culture of such at the time. I mean this video could have been like 1 minute of "You see locks on old computers because of security reasons but nowadays people can just use software. Subscribe for more factoids like this!" but instead you get something with a big more meat into it.

Otherwise it would be like if the Dollop or Jon Bois went "Oh screw it, people just want to know about a history fact without much fluff" and start churning out stuff like this.

His earlier movies, before he went completely down the drain into direct-to-video, are pretty ripe for Chapo critique. Movies like Marked for Death, On Deadly Ground and Fire Down Below have this weird liberal hippie viewpoint where they fetishize marginalized cultures while still portraying them as awful stereotypes. And that's without getting into the environmentalism.

Yeah so, a Chapo thread is a totally appropriate place to diss martial arts. If you want to beat people up, but also avoid maiming them, judo is actually way better for that and it works.

I remember taking a free aikido class in middle school, and the first lesson was how the black belt could pass through a narrow opening, like an alley, by waving his had a certain way. He then did Ki-yai and bumped between two kids to demonstrate the technique.

Out for Justice is Seagal's real breakthrough (along with Under Siege) and has an opening that simply has to be experienced.

On the other hand according to the Chapo Cannon , Judo has lead to it being uphanded by Sambo which lead to Taki's Mag.

Felix guest starred in a discussion of On Deadly Ground on the Have You Seen This? podcast earlier this week. It's good, he talks about that, 80s movie cliches, Seagal's (lack of?) ideology and mainlining Seagal movies to break in Nick Mullen's 4K television.

Well, yes I think it would. I also don't think there's anything wrong with charging for their episodes. The alternating between free and non-free episodes feels like a great balance.

I mean, yeah, it would have to. But I think the Patreon system works great (company politics aside) - it encourages people who enjoy the podcast to chip in, lets people on the edge still listen for free (and possibly buy in at some point), and doesn't have the clunkiness of ads that I'd just skip anyway.

I think people will genuinely pay for content if they like the creators, like the content, and feel like they get something out of it (double the episodes and no ads!). I'm subscribed to Giant Bomb (though I'm not sure I'll renew come November), a Grey Wolf, and about to become a citizen of Cum Town.

Stewart Lee (UK comedian) wrote a memoir a couple years ago (I'm reading it now), and he talks about how artists have become able to cultivate a dedicated following and make a living without having to be a big national name. You might not have millions of fans, but there are people who like you, and they'll come out to shows or buy your stuff. It's kind of inspiring.
