I don't think there's a big gap between the top seeded teams and the just-in teams. I don't think any upset would be super surprising, as has been the case since the 90's.

At what point are the Bruins not getting unlucky and are just poo poo finishers. Aren't they like LA in the top of CF like every year but always struggle to score goals?

This one you can actually just get from NHLcom. But I did forget to hit the sum box. Boston is actually 7th over the 5 year span. It's hard to say what's up with the Bruins. As a system they're playing the same way they always have, but they're not scoring as much. The quality of the roster has declined over time, and guys are getting older, so you expect things to give a little, but this year has been a down year for literally everyone that isn't Marchand or Pastrnak. Example: Jimmy Hayes loving sucks. He's terrible. I don't know how he has a regular roster spot, etc. He still had 13 goals and 29 points last year vs this year where he has 2 goals and 5 points. Like yeah, we knew he was awful, but the drop off in production is extreme. If he had even 6 or 7 more goals over the course of this year, who knows? Maybe that's the difference in a game or two and the Bruins win. It's a similar story throughout basically the entire lineup.

Two things I noticed today glancing at the standings: Minnesota has one (1) win in their last 10.  Carolina could be two points out of a playoff spot if they beat the CBJ tonight.

He's usually either pairing with Rielly or Gardiner and has been very good at shutting down people. He's 25 turning 26 so I'm not sure I like the 7 year part. But then again, it's Toronto and they can probably buy him out later if need be.

connor murphy got 3.85x6 in the same kind of deal and it looks like all the comparable contracts are pretty similar. salary increases and term that puts you over 30 but not ancient, and a 3-5MM overall cap hit.
