Oh poo poo, I forgot about the Fighting Farmers, and the Chapter Master thread. Didn't know you were the one that ran that Herp. Was fun until GW found out about the game and did what they always do.

IIRC, wasn't it a GW employee's fault that they got turned onto it in the first place? They were talking to someone about it at work and then they got pulled into a meeting with a bunch of executives and had to spill the beans, or am I misremembering?

Edit: Did a little digging, and apparently while they did scrub all of the 40K content from the base game and retag it as "Interstellar Army Simulator", there is a 40K "mod" that supposedly put it right back the way it was, which is neat.

Just don't go digging too far into the Bay12Games thread that I wandered into to find out more about it's current status. Madness lies that way.

Is there any kind of game that goes for that same feel? That is, slowly enhancing a small army as you move about putting out brushfires, upgrading stuff and people in a Sci-fi setting?

Edit:vvv Well, that's less army and more squad, but yeah. I've played them all.

well, i would say Xcom does that, in a way. both the Very Old, and the new Ones.

their Spiritual Successor UFO: Aftermath/Aftershock. although all of this is more Tactical level, rather then strategic.

btw, thanks to this LP i dusted of my Copy of Armada, amazingly i am not as bad at it, as i used to be (which was the reason i stopped playing) and thanks to Herp, i came across my one true love of Ramming.

While there are no upgrades for individual ships, the slowly building up your fleet over the course of the game aspect is pretty well-represented in Homeworld. Even assuming you aren't massively abusing Salvage Corvettes to go way over the nominal ship cap. :v:

You don't lose shields by ramming. You lose shields by ramming in the middle of a battlegroup so that they all focus fire on your ship.
Also Brace for Impact works a lot better when used before ramming. :v:

Dunno. I'd say go for it. He has been very arrogant about his enemies. Briefly before getting clowned upon by them.

As for the Avatar in Grey's RT LP, it was an Avatar with the number plates filed off. We continued the fine tradition of doing more damage to the party than the enemy did.

They also have the advantage of time not flowing as it should in the Warp, so they can spend all the time they need to tune up their ships. As long as they keep up the sacrifices to the Dark Gods, I'm sure they can kinda-sorta ensure that their ships come out when they need to.

EDIT: If and when we get Battleships, I'd like to remind Herp that I suggested the first Battleship name in the thread:
