Cantaloupe is tasty treat to start the morning with. Honeydew is garbage that shouldn't be sold in stores.

fridge corn posted:pink lady apples are the best apples Y'all haven't lived until you've had a Macoun during it's peak season, freshly picked from a tree. Or a Northern Spy, cut up with a little salt with your morning oatmeal. Don't bother with Empire apples, they get mealy hours after being picked. Any hybrid of a "red delicious" (a lie if there ever was one) is not worth your time. Arkansas Blacks are neat from a historical perspective, but they're more of a pie and/or storage apple. Some people swear by Baldwins, but I don't like them. Early in the season you can't go wrong with a good Cortland. If you can find them on the tree, Crispin/Mutsu's are fine, but I wouldn't bother if you see them in the store. If you like the Honeycrisp (honestly they have a bit of a kerosene undertaste that I don't like) try a Jonagold. gently caress, I love apples.

You can find them for less/lb than that. We usually get them from Costco in those big blister packs for about $14 which seems absurd but the good thing is that every single apple gets eaten long before they spoil. So that is a win. It beats spending a few bucks a week to watch bananas just turn brown. If you have a Sprout's farmers market they will have them on sale regularly for .98/lb. We bought like two dozen apples last week on sale and

I will not have heathens badmouth honeydew. Stop buying pre-cut fruit/fruit salads, those burn my throat too. Buy fresh honeydew for deliciousness Speaking of mouth burning fruits, beware of kiwis, which are apparently chocked full of an enzyme that's used as a commercial meat tenderizer. I found that out after I ate almost a dozen of them in a sitting, they melted my mouth so badly that my tongue was bleeding...

Not a massive apple fan but Granny Smith is the way to go. I really like citrus, especially oranges and tangerines. For a quick ready to eat snack I l can wolf down a 1/4lb pack of dried mango slices in one sitting easily. Fresh is nice too but a little sloppy as a quick snack. As for berries, blackberries is where it's at for me. if you're going to count tree nuts in here, I can eat my weight in pistachios if given the chance. I recently discovered the Costco roasted/salted already shelled kind and I went

I've got strawberries and blueberries growing besides the path to the front door, a handful when in season makes a lovely breakfast, sugar intake be damned. I was also bought a set of patio raspberries that I'm looking forward to next year.

Peaches, man. It helps that I was born and mostly raised in the peach capital of Texas (Parker County, west of Fort Worth.) So, I finally found out what got me released from my former contract. Turns out there were two complaints against me, one involving me being angry, apparently thinking no one was around, my big mouth, and the f-bomb. That's the one they never told me about. I don't recall the incident, but if I'm honest, it's more like I don't know *which* time I let fly with an angry "gently caress!" The other was I was basically being an impatient jackass and more-than-mumbling "answer the phone!" while calling someone, and she picked up in time to hear it. I remember that one - it was a frustrating day filled with time-wasters. I'm still upset that I wasn't given any warning or opportunity to address these concerns (or even apologize), but, basically, me and my big mouth and lack of self control lost me the job I'd been doing for 17 years without (much) issue. I need to work on not getting angry at work. It never ends well. To add injury to insult, my company is reviewing my case to see if there is cause to fire me, as well. Holy gently caress, guys, the concept of having to find a job after 17 years is kind of freaking me out. On the plus side, I'm hoping I can find something that's not outsourced.

The job hunt part sucks, but if they're willing to accept reports like that and not address them with you directly and immediately after the fact, they're just hunting for excuses - and it's probably not even directly related to you... 17 years is a lot of value ($$$$$) experience.

Excellent choice. Asus boards are the legit best. Also, fruit chat - anything fresh and local is usually good. I love me some apples, peaches, melons, cherries - you loving name it. But wild blueberries, saskatoons, strawberries and raspberries trump everything. And if you haven't had chokecherry syrup, you are missing out on the best of life.

The hell of it is that while I've been *at* the place I was for 17 years, I've actually worked directly *for* a different company since 2010. First Wipro, then for the last 7 months my current company, because outsourcing. My old company, the host company, basically just threw away my experience with them for piss-ant reasons. It will save them exactly nothing, since the contracted price for my company's services remains the same. Oh, they might get a short term slight savings if my replacement screws up and causes penalties from not meeting SLA targets while attempting to get up to speed, but ultimately all they get is less experience. scuz posted:Peaches are my favorite thing that grows on a tree but getting em fresh in Minnesota is a bit of a pain in the rear end. I'm spending almost a full week in NOLA later this month so I'm going to be eating my weight in crayfish every day and eating every peach I see. That's the best part about still living near where I grew up. Peach season is delicious. They even have a Peach Festival in July, where I can go buy a whole crate of peaches if I feel the need (I do). spog posted:Amongst all this fruit talk, let me offer you my sympathy and support.
