Facebook Aunt posted:I hate those things. What the gently caress, Mcdonalds? Though some people like automation, it drives me nuts. It slows the line unless they have training sessions, it offers too many choices, and then you have to fight with the machine to pay. Self checkouts are fine but only if you used to work retail and you're quick in the line. A human can work a checkout far faster and more efficiently. At the place I used to work, we tried doing an automated kiosk system at a Wendy's in McCarran in Las Vegas. It failed miserably. The software was good and the layout was efficient. It was just that everyone hated it. I'll never visit any restaurant that wants me to be the cashier unless they pay me for it. At $15/hour. Must be paid in the form of a check.

Hopefully all 10 people I sent packages to will post their opinions and a photo. I should have made that a rule, but with any luck people will be nice enough to do that anyway. My stuff made it. My Life Savers were also crushed. Everything else was intact. I didn't get pics, but here are my reviews of each item: - Musk Life Savers - who ever said these taste like Old Lady Perfume nailed it. Kind of a rosewater taste. Not bad, but not something I would choose on my own. - Pineapple Bites - these were amazing. We have a similar thing here called a Charleston Chew, except those are a long single bar instead of bite-sized pieces. It even recommends on the package that you stick it in the freezer, then smack it sharply on a hard surface so it breaks into bite-sized pieces. Pineapple Bites save you a step! I plowed through them. DELICIOUS. Charleston Chews come in Vanilla, Chocolate and like....Strawberry/Raspberry? Something pink. - the Cheesy Bite or whatever it's called is....meh. I LOVE Vegemite. This was basically nerfed Vegemite. I'd give it a C, mostly because I don't want to water down the teate of delicious Vegemite. HUGE thanks again and if you ever want snacks from the US, shoot me a PM, and I will hook you up.

A couple of the McD's I went to had an 'express lane' with one person with an iPad taking peoples orders and another person on a till that you pay and then another person brings up your order after about another minute or so, how common is this?

The one near me does this for the lunch rush, especially with the drive-thru line that can sometimes get long enough to spill out of the parking lot and block a lane of the road (because gently caress you, other cars, I need a lovely burger!). The idea is to only stop the line for a second at each window to pay or grab food, and it seems to work...often the ipad person is walking with cars as they continually move.

Self checkouts are fine but only if you used to work retail and you're quick in the line. All the ones that have gotten the kiosks also have one or two regular counter checkouts for olds and whatnot. The kiosks don't even take cash, just plastic: You can still order at the kiosk if you want to look at the menu, but you'll have to take the slip it gives you and pay at the counter. It's faster overall because while they used to have 2-4 counter clerks on duty at any given time, they now have 1-2 clerks +4 kiosks. Going to the counter to order sucks though, because a couple years before the kiosks were brought in the menu screens behind the counter were converted to big screen tvs, and randomly explode into multi-media extravaganzas about the glory of Shamrock Shakes or whatever. I don't think it ever shows the whole menu at once anymore. The kiosks never take away the the thing you were reading to show you pictures of other things. The kiosks here also show you the calories of everything and the calorie total of your order, so you can feel like a fatass. That's my mcdonald's story, thanks for listening.

My friends and I found three Hustlers and an old pan by the remains of a camp fire in the woods once. It was amazing.
