94c40d is a pretty good seed. Two hander has strong and bloodthirsty, archer has tiny and bloodthirsty, map has a gem mine and a good distribution of roads and harbors. Only downside is the shield dude is kinda crappy with bad traits. Hieronymous Alloy fucked around with this message at 04:51 on Apr 6, 2017 |

Not that I know of, which is a shame, because being stylish is important on today's battlefield. A davkul killfiend can get by with orcish weapons, since their crude style matches the hellish meatsuit. Emperor Goldfinger though? Best I can think of is a crypt cleaver or something

I liked when I found 3 legendary shields. Then they broke in the very next fight to the first 3 orcs the users encountered. In a single hit.

Here's another tiny UI thing I figured out: in combat, the little yellow rectangle next to a person's name when you mouse over them tells you what height they're at. If it's empty, they're at the lowest height of the map, and the rectangle fills up a little for each additional height. Kinda useful info I guess

I think the game bugged out for me. I got the ambition to get up to 12 men, and when I had 11, I cleared out a bandit camp. An event fired at the end of the battle where a prisoner of the bandits asked to join the company. I accepted, bringing the men up to 12, but the ambition thingy didn't fire. It just went away without giving me the 'end ambition' dialogue with the morale boosts and everything. And now a new ambition won't show up. It's like the ambition only works if I buy the men myself. Goddammit game, you had always been so bug free for me ever since early access, apart from a few crashes. Why do you have to do this now? My new game was going so well too.

Farmhands can be stupidly good if you get lucky. But they always start out a bit on the less valorous side and need a few extra points. 33 isn't even that bad if you have a good bannerman and a rock-steady sergeant.

I've been pumping everyone's Resolve to 50, though Sergeants get maxed out. What do you guys do?
|
# ? Apr 6, 2017 12:08 |
I aim for 40+ base but it's a low priority. Maxing out a good sergeant is generally enough.

Hieronymous Alloy posted:I aim for 40+ base but it's a low priority. Maxing out a good sergeant is generally enough. Same. Getting to 50 works for someone who is going to be surrounded or far from the sergeant, but guys who stay close to the line generally are between 30 and 40 and that works for most encounters I have had with geists. I like to have a few back up sergeant types who don't have the banner but do have rally to help out though.

What's the requirement for getting that insane Davkol armor to procc? Having a Cultist at a certain level, or the converted kind?

I've got both at level 9 each and it hasn't procc'd yet, its really quite rare.

Battle Brothers, unlike XCOM, doesn't fudge the to hit chance numbers on favor of the player. In XCOM when you have an 85% chance to hit, you really have 95% chance or something.

The newer XCOMs only fudge numbers in the player's favor on lower difficulties, in XCOM Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within the dice rolls were fair on Classic and Impossible.

What d people mean be a good 'sergeant' in this thread?

# ? Apr 6, 2017 15:26 |

if mods get to that point i'll probably just link nordick the chess rules i instituted in the XCOM 2 thread they're incredibly lame but by god they have stopped every dumbfuck argument about that mod before they can really get going. it took me a year and change of stupid pissing contests to come up with them, but by god they work now. MOVIE MAJICK posted:What d people mean be a good 'sergeant' in this thread? there is one ambition to appoint a sergeant of the company. you do this by having someone with the "rally the troops" talent. the reward is a sergeant's sash that increases the resolve of the wearer. this synergizes nicely with the banner, since 10% of the bannerman's resolve is given as a bonus to the men around him. so if you have a guy from a high-resolve background (such as monk, or cultist), and also make him your sergeant, you can end up giving 10 or more resolve points to everyone in the company.

You know, every now and then you can get lucky with a Deserter. Sure the guy has no talent stars in hand to hand, but he came with a 70 base skill when factoring in Dexterous, his defenses aren't bad, and he managed to have fixable morale rather than a 15 like most deserters.

# ? Apr 6, 2017 15:33 |

This guy is going to have in excess of 90 attack and 35 melee defense at level 11. That's loving rediculous. You actually got a max melee skill roll on him on top of everything else. The only downside is resolve sucks because farmers, and his fatigue is actually close to the minimum for farmers. He could have theoretically had another 20 fatigue at level 1. Please don't take +2 fatigue over good resolve and/or hp rolls and he will be crazy. You might need to sacrifice a little more fatigue than you'd usually want because his resolve is so bad. If you don't let him use a 2hander as soon as it's safe I'm going to be seriously disappointed

My current run was going very well due to following the advice of not immediately hiring up to 12 but growing slowly and emphasizing armor early game, and running as many lumberjack axes as I could get my hands on. It tipped into great when I got the direwolf armor contract and :shank:ed my way to more good armor. Now it's day twenty and I roll over everything on veteran ironman with a frontline of lumber axes. Everyone is in good mail and I just bought my first greatsword. Two-handed/knife supremacy
