It's an entirely reasonable way to run a team to get the biggest paydriver you can in and use it to pay for the best driver you can attract in seat 2. Where it falls down of course is if that best driver is Felipe Massa.

Practical concerns do kick in at some point though, Williams learned that one with Pastor, if your mechanics are constantly rebuilding the car then they burn out and they quit, or they don't have time to double check to make sure equipment that can burn down your garage is safe.

Mclaren ran faster than mercedes in FP1, and ran as many laps as ferrari in FP2. Have they finally got their issues sorted? it certainly looks like it, i'm prediciting a nando podium in china.

There's some talk of binning FP3 and running qualifying and the race tomorrow because the forecast for sunday is this same poo poo. It probably won't happen, but the race could be hosed up by smog/fog

I used to live next to a hospital and every time I went outside I would see ambulances stuck in traffic. Also, unless something has changed since 2013, the FIA approved hospital is just about on the other side of the city, and Shanghai is a expansive loving city.
