Delta-winged aircraft are so good looking, they just look fast as gently caress all the time. I mean look at the F-106: And my vote for the prettiest jet fighter of all time, the Mirage (in all its delta-winged guides): Come to think of it, Dassault cranks nothing but lookers no matter what they do:

That said, here's probably Dassault's most obscure jet: A narrowbody airliner that failed to sell beyond its launch customer.

Some kind of incident with a business jet at KBDU. Can't see much but looks like it slid off the north side of runway 8 aaaallllllllllll the way down at the very end. Jet looks intact and everyone is ok which is good. Every fire truck and police car in town raced out there pretty quickly so I'm not sure if they declared an emergency in the air or if the biffed the landing.

The F-12's stellar performance was predicated largely on the availability of the variable discharge turbine R-4360, which never happened unfortunately. Cat Mattress posted:Old Man Dassault used to say that "a beautiful plane is a plane that flies well". Yeah the Mercure was very pretty, but ill-considered in nearly every conceivable way. It had a max-payload range of something like 650 miles, and a maximum ferry range of like 1700, which was way less than either the 737 or the DC-9. While the Mercure was more efficient than both, the lack of range severely hampered its usability. Dassault did propose a Mercure 200, with a fuselage stretch, greatly expanded fuel capacity and CFM56 engines, but that went basically nowhere, even though it was basically an A320 a decade before that airplane first flew. I saw a jet coming in to land earlier today when I was walking on Foothills, and they seemed to be landing really long, and I didn't hear much noise. Sometimes Pilatus uses Boulder to show off planes to customers, but it didn't seem to be anything like that. Are you at BDU? It's been years since I posted, but I have a Citabria there, and my garage is full of things that might one day be a Pitts S1

I've been a fan of the F-5 Tigers and Tiger II's since I got to see them dance as the USMC aggressor flight down at Miramar a few years ago, they are loving TINY compared to modern fighters, but that just adds to their charm.

All the euro-canards are pretty cool though, if inferior to the F-16. But that tail is too garish for me, cool, but not as cool as the lobo. I may be slightly biased by the fact that I'm from Sioux Falls, where the Lobo's are based... maybe. Fake edit: Bring out all the crazy tail flashes.

Solid answer. I'm at MCAS Yuma now. The approach end of one of the runways is right over the highway outside base. Nothing cooler than seeing a section of F-5s in wacky paint schemes come over at like 50 feet. Awesome few pages everyone.
