Is this a TW200? It looks like one. The seller cannot clarify as he is illiterate, and this is his only picture. It's a "yamaha 200cc induro" man and he reassures me it's not stolen :allears:

Facebook marketplace hasn't yet evolved the sophistication of Craigslist that we're used to. Seriously, I asked him how it runs and what year and got "I don't have the title it's not stolen"

Yep that's a Tdub. Drum front brake so pre 2001, with that paint/seat color I'd say 90-91. Even if it runs and everything works without a title I'd only give him $400-$600 for it. Check the VIN first with your local authority.

Haha That's still for sale?! I posted it up here a couple months back, as it seemed like a good deal on a tdub. I ran the second I contacted the owner and saw what a knuckledragger he was.

Bonded title isn't so hard to get in georgia, but just think of the PO horrors you'll deal with. I guess tdubs don't mind abuse so much...

The TWs are stout as hell. Little in the way of electrics, and not much loom because the bike is so small. Anf they'll run for at least 4 years with newbie riding abusing the hell out of it with no oil changes.

*Looks forlornly at the 4 TW200's that i used in the MSF class I had as we weren't allowed to do maintenance on them and the school (actually a community college) never did any maintenance on them either.*

Yeah, he's asking $600 and will take $500. The price would be right if I only had to deal with title issues OR with a hack job previous owner, but not both.

I learned to ride on a TW200 and it was great. If I still lived in Canada I'd get one and stick on studded tires and some of those ski outriggers they use in Scandinavia and ride it year-round.

I've got an ad for a 2015 keeway superlight 125cc, 6800 miles, asking $1200.

I'm pretty nooby, does any part of that raise an eyebrow?

Also, https://www.gumtree.com/p/yamaha-motorbikes/yamaha-ybr-125-for-sale/1227615737

yamaha ybr125 with 'surface rust damage from winter use'. Anyone look at the pictures and tell me if that's a major red flag?

And the NT is 10000000x times better. We used to call PC's pressure cookers bc all the foam insulation around the motor prevents heat from dissipating correctly.

Monster Energy sticker on the bike, run away. Also, it looks like they used tire dressing on the tires, but no one could possibly be that dumb. Maybe they're just wet?

I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss. Finding out where the edge of the razor is, turning to face the darkness and revving his 690 into it's vast gaze. You gotta live this to learn it bro.

Oh god no why would you pay $2800 for that. If you want to buy something dumb and old go buy a CX650 Turbo or something.

You won't be able to easily get track gear, rearsets, spares, and good suspension for it. You want a trackbike that looks like everyone else's trackbikes.

I like the way katanas look too, but 2800 for one that doesn't even run is ridiculous. Half that is more realistic, but the cult status of these bikes right now makes idiots think they're worth more. Just keep an eye out for something cheaper.

Coydog

I didn't say anything because I was afraid of CA backlash about the "sacred katana". Now that I have support, I'd like to say that the katana is an ugly bike, and 2800 is hilariously high for even a running example.

Unless you intend to make it look like this or this, in which case :getin:

Sagebrush
Feb 26, 2012

I do not like the look of Katanas at all and I agree with Z3n that the much better weird '80s bike choice is one of the Honda turbos.

how many other bikes have printing on the fuckin muffler

Proof
They sound pretty good. I like that they are incredibly weird looking but I'm not really into them. I can just appreciate that they're weird.
$2800 for one is a hilarious price for any condition short of showroom, less than 5000 miles and meticulously maintained.

Whatever. A MIRACLE, if you can afford it, I hope you buy that bike and love to regret every second of it.
I still have a whole garage full of broken 70's Hondas, so who am I to judge?

Every bike should have a dual-round-headlight adapter, either with a little fairing like the top of the '85 Gixxer, or just as a standalone naked thing.

I would get one for the FZ-09; it would look great on the (newer) Striple, on Tuonos, on Harleys, Hondas, Husqvarnas, Husabergs, Horexes, whatever.
