Toronto/Ottawa and Boston/Washington sound like intriguing series. Therefore, I will sacrifice the CBJ's last chance at a 50-win season to make it so. ...because they probably aren't going to win anyway. e- Or a three point game and CBJ get 50 anyway. I'll take that. Toronto only needs one point to move to 3rd, right?

The first coaching casualty of the (almost) off-season. Frankly, given how much Stars fans here complained about him I'm not too surprised.

Lindy Ruff may not have been very good in Dallas but this is 100% Jim Nill firing the coach to save his own job. What the gently caress is any coach in the NHL supposed to do with that defense and goaltending?

Perfect, now fire the goaltenders and the defence. Realtalk tho, ruff was perfectly fine, he was just given poo poo to work with and everyone was broken for half the season. Seems he's just fine with retiring.

JoelJoel posted:Perfect, now fire the goaltenders and the defence. I agree with this for the most part, except Ruff's special teams coach is loving awful and should have been replaced long ago. Last season was an aberration, as it was the one season in the past six-seven years where the Stars were effective on special teams. I think if there isn't a serious sign of improvement for the team in the next two years Nill will probably be gone too. His biggest, most obvious gently caress up is wasting time and money with Niemi, but his free agent signings haven't really done much eithee.

Good news: 2016-17 will be the highest-scoring regular season since 2010-11. Bad news: The intervening years had totals of somewhere between 5.3 and 5.35 goals per game, and this year will finish somewhere around 5.45.
