Which would still be pretty impressive with boobs.

Enoch Root posted:Or, like a boiler I serviced some years back, some idiot operator plugged the relief valve because 'it kept leaking' I worked at a place, where the level indicator crapped out so they ran without it. It over-filled and carried water down the steam header. The water was flashing in the header. It rattled this massive boiler about 8 inches off the pad and shook poo poo out of the main header. Luckily, I wasn't there for this pants-crapping event, though. Edit for size: This boiler produced on average about 110,000 lbs/hr of steam. Steam relief valves and boiler level gauges are like the oldest pieces of safety tech. I don't care what sort of cronyism is in place in operations hiring, it should be easy enough for day 1-90 of boiler training to be "your butthole will pucker if the RV lifts or the level gauge reads something funny." Its like the two jobs of a boiler operator besides sipping coffee and being exasperated at the endless water treatment salesmen coming through trying to sell their snake oil boiler treatments.

Yeah, there are 10,000 UN numbers, that's why you just type into google UN and then the 4 digit number on the placard, and it should give you an MSDS that'll tell you how much cancer you're gonna get or how far you'll fly if it explodes. If there are too many types of dangerous goods, you're allowed to just run "danger" placards. If you see a truck with "danger" placards, don't drive beside/behind it. In oilfieldey areas it's the chem van, and most of those dudes are 25 and look 40. They're required to chain smoke because the filter on the cigarette extends their usefullness as a chem van driver.

A neighbor of mine got angry with a belt on a chipper. It severed his hand through the wrist. The doc took one look and sent him to Duluth. They made it work, but not great. The had to do a mix and match with the tendons. Remember don't mess with a spinning shaft.

TTerrible posted:Could you elaborate on what a chemvan does? There is a big long list of incredibly dangerous chemicals, some liquid in totes, and some dry, that are used in fracking. They're heavily guarded trade secrets, but the chem van guy has to have an MSDS for all of them which documents all the health and environmental hazards. The companies are required to make the info public so if it starts on fire and the driver is dead the fire crews know to run as fast as they can, but they're intentionally difficult to navigate. Still, if you know what to search for on their sites, you can find most of them, like this fuckin beaut, a corrosion inhibitor. http://www.halliburton.com/web-reso...53A14%2527%257D quote:Hazard Statements
