There were also two statues, an action figure and t-shirts. He made a bunch of cash off MM merch. I wonder if he had to pay any of that back.

Nobody thinks it's Todd because he clearly lost his suit with Neil and Neil got the spoils and Marvel's still publishing comics with Angela and poo poo.

I read the column to see what the gently caress they were on about and it mentioned basically nothing beyond the premise, so my most charitable guess is that they read a little bit of the first, actually good chapter and were like "yeah no reason to assume it doesn't keep on like this".

Isn't Strong Female Protagonist one of those things that tries to make fun of/be "realistic" about superheroes but ends up just being a sub-par example of the genre? Like Worm or some poo poo.

I think the real sad thing is that I feel like Comics Alliance was just starting to get it's footing again. I feel like it never really regained the heights of what it was after the first time it died and for awhile it was more ScreenCrush stuff than actual new content. But it really looked like it was figuring itself out albeit still being much more clickbaity than it was before the original shutdown.

Also, honestly, I hope that Chris Sims just sticks to his podcasts and writing comics. I like the guy but I feel like Comics Alliance allowed him to indulge himself in his own interests as opposed to someone like Collins or Cereno who I think did a much better job at shaping an identity for the site.

Okay since I'm home and have a bit of time, here's every Young Animal title for March (Shade didn't have an issue, but sold less than Cave Carson in February):
code:
101	94	Doom Patrol	5	$3.99	DC	24,693
162	161	Mother Panic	4	$3.99	DC
190	191	Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye	6	$3.99	DC	11,558
For a probably fair comparison, here's Vertigo books:
code:
200	202	Savage Things	1	$3.99	DC	10,568
205	210	Astro City	42	$3.99	DC	9,481
241	261	Lucifer	16	$3.99	DC	6,917
259	282	Lost Boys	6	$3.99	DC	6,217
272	294	Everafter From The Pages of Fables	7	$3.99	DC	5,819
So if they're expecting them to sell similarly to Vertigo titles, they're doing well, but I have no idea what DC's expectations are for the YA line.

All I'm taking away from this is that not enough people are reading Astro City. <>

And Ask Chris gave me something to point at for the inevitable person who treats "Why doesn't Batman just donate all his money to charity to stop crime?" as a megaburn instead of just a conversation starter, and I'll always be grateful for that.

I think there were some sort of likeness rights issues with Bill Murray/the cast in general, which is also why the Real Ghostbusters cartoon didn't particularly look like the four main actors either. This coloring book took even more liberties, but maybe they were even more afraid of having to change things/getting sued.

I signed up for Marvel Unlimited and while reading the comics works out really well they need to work on their backend and give it some kind of structure. Because just going through a big alphabetical list of every series on the service kind of sucks.

Also because of the Handbook thread I read the original Squadron Supreme for the first time and while I liked most of it the series as a whole just kind of flops at the ending.

I love that iconic storylines are collected as the original issues, that's how most people read them today after all.

I was reading Tales of Suspense and basically dropped off when I got to the first-ever Marvel cross promotion where Iron Man got into a cliffhanger that I then needed to jump to another book to read but there's no support for doing that at all in Unlimited so I would've had to exit out of the entire series, open the other one and scroll to the exact issue I needed, read it, then back out until the next time.

It's a really great service but it desperately needs a task force to sit down and figure out a way of allowing people to create read-lists for storylines/characters/events (if they're not going to do it themselves) so that you don't have to hunt and peck during crossovers and promotions.
