It's the special election to replace Mike Pompeo, who won the district by +30% It's an incredibly and heavily Republican district, to the point that the DNC has committed $0 of funding to Thompson's campaign If Thompson comes close, let alone wins, it's a huge signal to the Republicans that Trump is incredibly toxic. This is muddled a little bit by Thompson running against Brownback (who is loving up the state so badly that the Republicans are revolting against him) and not specifically Trump.
