Here's my blistering take: The democrats will remain a mess as long as they keep being republicans that hate black and gay people less (no money in it). They have no real identity besides supposedly being in opposition to the other party, and it's just such an inherently lovely position to operate from. Dems know that if they ever have power again, they cannot actually do anything without breaking kayfabe. That's why they don't seem to ever want to win. It's why obama never seemed especially keen on getting anything done. It's why they spend so much time trying to convince their voters that the things they want are actually bad or impossible. This is the only way I can make sense of the democratic party.

the Georgia candidate also has a good shot because the R's have been tearing themselves apart in that district and now there's even some dipshit libertarian who's gonna get involved last minute to really gently caress with their numbers while the Kansas guy was a moonshot in one of the reddest districts in the area

On the contrary, the republicans have extremely consistent and clear messaging of "gently caress you, more money for us". They also run on advocating for smaller government, while doing everything in their power to make the government operate poorly. It's an extremely potent feedback loop imo

sexpig by night posted:you do know why the airtime is cheap right Winning as many races as possible is literally the only thing that matters. It's not outrageous to attempt to compete in a red district where an enormously unpopular GOP governor and open seat make winning at least an outside possibility. I suspect the national GOP apparatus spent $200k to hold the district for a reason. But if we want to pretend that they're irrational sure, that's fine. Ha, we won by making them waste money!!! We got close without an investment of money, and investing money now does literally nothing! Please cut us more checks!!!!!

ACTUALLY money is only valuable in this race, where we spent lots, and proven to have zero value in that race, where we didn't spend. That's just obvious, shame you haven't caught on.
