I would imagine he's got his eye on the ball. What he wants is less forum bullshit, and more lemonaidgaming.com or whatever fake news articles.

This poo poo show keeps rolling because of lies, misdirection, and an image of completion. For all intents and purposes, stuff like planetary landings is already done, 3.0 includes huge missions and additional planetary romping around. It's like Mass Effect only more detailed and you can camp on planets.

The reality just needs to be stifled longer.

Ortwin would probably have people killed for what he's making off SC, and that's kind of sad. :(

Once SC comes out it too will be terrible.

Inevitably reality vs perception is going to catch up and the narrative will change to "they're doing things no other company has the balls to do" and at that point there's nothing you can compare against. There will always be, however, the crushing fact that everything CIG does is broken, half assed, and poo poo, except the graphics.

I guess the real exciting thing here is we're going to see how far lies and good graphics can get you. So far we're 5+ years in with nothing close to the promises, and over 100 million dollars. That's pretty good, unfortunately.

Meanwhile Cryengine is looking increasingly old and creaky, and the combination of the engine's inherently poor optimization and Roberts' alleged aversion to 'cheating' on graphics means that they've already hit the wall and may even need to dial back the fidelity a scooch in order to get any kind of performance out of a theoretical 3.0. In the meantime, other games using newer or more fit-to-task engines are going to leave Star Citizen in the dust - it's already happening.

Nah, it's all idiots. CIG is just less stupid than the backers they are fleecing.

We used to think Ortwin was the mastermind behind it but the streetroller fiasco showed he's as clownshoes as the rest of them.

Not being good at playing lawyer doesn't mean you have no skills. What CIG is doing feels borderline criminal, what with the shell companies and the other nonsense about how they file their taxes and such.

It may not be Ortwin, but there's somebody there who really really cares about the money and how it gets safeguarded and protected.

This may or may not have started off as an honest attempt at a video game, but once big money got involved, things took a turn. Money does things to people. Even good people.

Unfortunately for the Roberts they didn't even really start off as good people to begin with. If you're looking for honesty and integrity out of a used car salesman and his porn actress wife, neither of which ever were capable of being remotely honest before they became millionaires, I doubt they're going to have a coming to Jesus reckoning anytime soon.

For homework for backers and or MoMA saying nuh uh!:

1: Why does a video game company need 16+ shell companies spread across the globe?

2: CR promised to show financials, then didn't. Why?

3: When has CR been honest about the direction of the game as it genuinely is, instead of his fake hopes and dreams and lies for what it will be?

4: Has anybody found a single degree from Sandi, anywhere? For anything at all?

5: Why is an eager to release video game company taking its main forums off line where nobody can easily reach it?

6: Explain the funding tracker.

7: Explain the anti-consumer ToS.

Now in order to do this, you need to explain these in such a way that also makes CR and crew seem like good people, who are eager to serve their customers while making an award winning AAA video game for public consumption in an MMO that doesn't alienate its user base, and also doesn't make them look like they are trying to steal money and get away with it scot free.

I think it's just a matter of Chris Roberts being almost unmatched in his inability and ineptitude, but he's tricked himself and others into thinking he's a visionary.

If he thinks he's immune to the cult turning on him when the rubber hits the road, I'd draw his attention to George Lucas - the man who could do no wrong, and whose fervent admirers theorycrafted endlessly about the wonders they would see in the prequel trilogy - soaking up every piece of news like it was gospel and already in the films.

Ask him how his fandom stuck by him once they sat in the theater, the film started up, and the photons left the screen and traveled to their retinas, representing the actual state of the film which was now solid and no longer existing solely in their minds.

Now take that reaction and imagine some of them paid over $30,000 to sit in that theater.
