The F-CK-1C Hsiung Ying is basically an F-16 with the serial numbers filed off. The Taiwanese use them to pretty good effect. We could probably work a contract with them to get a few in exchange for our services, especially given our recent...er um, situations with the PRC we might find a sympathetic ear in Taipei. Of course that does beg the question of if we are willing to piss the PRC off even more than we already have and if Yooper gives us missions in that area.

Honestly, we've already shot down fighters, sank a frigate and are about to attack an air base. I don't think we can make the Chinese that much more kissed off at us.

I am against anything swingwing because we will go bankrupt trying to keep them in the air (probably. I don't know about this game)

Swing-wing designs do tend to be more expensive to operate compared to conventionally winged aircraft, but it shouldn't bankrupt us.

Who wants a belly rub??

My point was more that an aircraft built domestically for one specific nation will likely be hard to get as they probably want to use theirs. Stuff exported all over the place would likely be a lot easier to find for sale somewhere.

The same is functionally true of our Gripens. The Hungarian and Czech ones are rentals and the Thai and South African fleets are very small.

I kinda like the idea of having the handful of high end fighters escorting weird old junk around, personally. Though I doubt we'd ever need more than the eight we started with if we can get enough ground strikers to free them up for CAP.

I think going with high- to mid-end gear offers us more chances to do nutty stuff.

We can't bomb Beijing with Super Etendards. But we might be able to put a Paveway in the Palace of the People with some more modern kit.

So bring on the F-16 retreads, Tornadoes, and Prowlers!

Hah, no. Just a good way to keep it visual. I'd love to have the "Special Actions" tab have something like this instead of a text button. I'm just a sucker for cool cards.

Even the tryhard equipment we have access to isn't going to match top of the line stuff major militaries have. And we're not going to be able to buy even our high end stuff in bulk because it will cost a shitload.

Buying silver bullets won't make the game boring by making us overrun our competition. It'll just give us an excuse to hunt werewolves. ... Metaphorically.

Trade 'em, share 'em, give 'em to the kids! More cards for your mission viewing pleasure. Now you can shake it at the screen as I gently caress up your orders. (hopefully not)

Beyond being eye candy think of it as my kneeboard for orders. Rather than me popping between screens this will hopefully give me some visual cues.

This is in mission order, first ones arrive at targets first. Please let me know if anything is screwed up or I missed your name or something.

Our Meteors are really really good missiles. They can by guided in by our S 100, which means that our Gripens can launch them while keeping their radars off, or even launching them then immediately turning tail. "Kiting" with modern missiles like that is a very good tactic; maybe even overpowered if the AI can't deal with it.

As a bit of extra :eng101: : Putting CAP aircraft waaaaay up high gives them better kinematics on both offense and defense. Missiles have to climb up more to reach them, lowering their effective range and chance to hit, and they have more altitude to trade for speed when going defensive. Their own missiles also have more energy, which gives them a better chance to hit and larger effective range.

It does come with a slight downside. Planes at high altitude will form contrails, which can be seen from longer range than the plane itself. In this case I figured that our CAP will show up on someone's radar before we get in visual range of anything. Even if our boys on the ground manage to disable the Wall Rust radar installation, there are still the radars on the AA and the J-16s. If we had a stealth fighter doing a bombing run in the daytime, though, we could seriously consider sending it at lower altitude so it doesn't form contrails.

I draw the easiest job in the fleet. I don't even have to wake up for missions, they just leave my cut of pay by the door, because most the time a mission comes up where we'd need refueling the Indians cough up a closer airbase. They're so considerate! :v:

I don't think we need the tanker. The Phantom has a lot more fuel, enough that it can make it from Lakhimpur to Bhutan to Lhasa at low altitude. The Gripens are shorter ranged, but they can make it from Lakhimpur to Lhasa if they stay at cruising altitude.

There is a good argument for letting the tanker top up our strike Gripens to let them go in at low level, though. I just didn't like that the tankers would have to be snuggled right in next to the border to be effective. Yonphula running out of parking spots caught me by surprise, too, and I didn't want to rework the plan significantly and cause extra confusion. (Order, counter-order, disorder.)

I'd like the strikers to refuel either as the ingress (before they cross the border) or as they are egressing (just after the cross the border).

That'd let everyone use afterburners to get out of Dodge. And it'll let them go down to low-level if needed.

Having the option to get more gas is never a bad thing.
