Ok, I'm watching the new ATV, I never watch them but am going to this time, I'm 1 minute in and can't believe how after having done all these before, now unnatural Sandi comes across in front of the camera. Her talent for being so untalented in front of a camera is it's self an amazing talent.

This is school AV club rehearsal level.

This could be fun!

Back soon!

I'm looking at Spectrum's connection suite using DevTools. The calls seem suspiciously close to Discords. Is there an opensource thing for this?

I think some did this before and found discord fragments and traces of some other similar software in the code. Wasn't the conclusion they either stole or bought the underlying code or something?

The thing is, you know Chris has written this poo poo for him to say.

Blind them with bollocks.

Gameplay was touched on once when the guy talking about the Javelin mentioned that his background was in FPS maps and he keeps that in mind - the rest of everything was about making poo poo look flash.

Pre-rendered ship porn to make their backers :gizz:

Gameplay wise it was a total :flaccid:

You can tell that it was re-edited because the fronting bits where so non flowing. (due to cutting)

Sandi has a big wedding ring which I had never noticed before.

Discord is blocked where I work, seems like Spectrum is blocked as well. Slack isn't, though. So I thought I'd peek under the hood a little bit, not going to waste my time combing the code.

Someone looked in the code, found the word "slug" repeated a bunch of times, and then said that this proved Spectrum was a reskinned Slug. The problem is, "slug" is a common web term, and no product named "Slug" exists as far as anyone can tell. So in conclusion: probably false like most of the thread lore floating around here.

you're gonna have to be specific about what "seems suspiciously close", the thing looks just like discord which means it's probably using Electron on the backend and a million other libraries every webkit-based app uses now

No, lol, if it was developed by CIG it would probably be like one of those mid-nineties chat rooms with 2D avatars talking in a bar.

It was developed by Turbulent (probably using some open-source discord-clone as the base, in any case it suuccckkkks)

Could be something, could be nothing.

Left Spectrum, Right Discord.

Seems both sides have similar functions, diff names. Not sure if this is an opensource library. But it seems refactored, at least the variable names are from my short look at it.

What gives it away the most is the errors that are being called, strangely enough the syntax is exactly the same?

Hmmm... Whats more interesting it seems like they reverse engineered discord somewhat?
The structure / function format for this is extremely similar.

Someone with a better eye can review this.

JavaScript development using typescript and web pack will generate very similar blocks of code due to shared libraries and packages. The minifying of variable names is standard web pack behaviour.

If you want a smoking gun, you'll need to find code that is unique to discord in their bundle first.

There are a couple open source discord clones in the wild, I thought that's where spectrum was taken from. Really, discord and slack clones are nothing new.

That's all code from open source libraries that will appear in basically every context imaginable without alteration because web development is half getting the right plugins so you don't have to recode the wheel, engine and entire car.

So did they demonstrate getting a suit puncture by having someone get shot in the thumb?

Sure, a bullet hitting your thumb hard enough to puncture your vacuum suit is still not hard enough for you to say drop your gun or break your thumb or shake your hand wildly cause OMG I just got shot in the thumb.
It's just it's cool man my thumb got shot and punctured my suit. I'm just going to keep on holding my gun here.
